Hey guys, Im going with my wife to LA to try and forget about this horrible Knicks run...

Any ideas?

I have never been there before, so any ideas would be cool.

Im going to do some Disney, Universal, etc.

Is Knotts Berry farm cool? What is it?

I would really love love love to go to a show taping. Any locals know a good way to get tix? Where to wait on line for them etc?

Also, if I go to santa Monica, Rodeo, etc are their any tours you would suggest? Any areas that are cool to drive around at?

Lastly, being poor :) I was wondering where I could get good prices on tix etc.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Well Disneyland is south of LA in Anaheim, CA (Orange County). Universal was badly burned in a fire, I think their prices are slashed because of it. Knott's is just another amusment park, it's OK. Actually that might be a good move, they have a splash park next to Knott's owned by Knott's if you have kids. Disney is cool if you have kids. If you are looking adult thrill rides, extreme fun, Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA is the best move, inland from LA, but not that far off. I live in south county, so I'll leave any other suggestions to others.

Knotts is wack. Don't waste your money there.

Make sure you get to In-N-Out for the best burger you'll ever taste. Where exactly will you be laid up at in LA ? Also what ever you do avoid the 405 and 10 if you can help it. If you go to Santa Monica use Lincoln it'll get you there much faster then the 10 will.

As far as cruising, try to do Sunset Bl. in Hollywood trust me you'll see everything !

Oh yeah Knott's is for old folks and new born babies, neither knows that they're there.

Or if you want an even better burger with side effects Original Tommy's Burgers.

Dub you think Tommy's is better the In-N-Out ? And I guess your " side effects " are chili running all over the table right ! lololololo

Depends on what you're looking to do... (I have little ones)
Magic Mountain was already suggested, which is good for adults.
As far as burgers go, In & Out is always a winner and not pricey.
Stay away from Santa Monica, Venice beach is better, but to chill out at the beach, anywhere North of Malibu is good.
Disneyland is good--has the new Toy Story ride (4-D), California Adventure is entertaining for older kids and adults.
Universal has the new Simpsons ride.

These are just a few of the things that I've experienced in the past year or so.

Tickets: Barry's Tickets, Stub Hub.
Radio stations: (Sports-am) 570 KLAC, (News-am) 980 KFWB

Firstly, thanks so much guys.

Im staying in Lax, and I was wonderin what roads to take. I see some advice about that above. Thanks for the sports stations too... You guys have been very helpful. I was thinking about doing that lame tours around the city, I know as a NYer I would never do one here, but I figure why not somewhere else? :D

Go to the Chinese Theater, check out the boardwalk on Venice beach, 3rd st promenade in Santa Monica is cool on fri-sat nights with people doing street shows. Check out Pinks Hotdogs in Hollywood, In n' Out burger, but you also gotta try Tommy's chili burgers. I know the Jimmy Kimmel show gives away tickets like crazy you just have to apply for some online. Can't think of anything else of the top of my head except for what everyone else said. Good luck from a fellow knick fan.

You have to visit L.A. Beaches and relax, try Redondo, Hermosa or Manhattan Beach.
Visit Mickey's in Hermosa for the best sauce sandwich, a great mid day snack.

Try and hit up Hollywood for a rock show, ie The Viper Room, Key Club etc. Pick up a L.A. Weekly Magazine, they have lots of info for entertainment for Hollywood and Los Angeles Area. They can be found in 7-11s, etc.
http://www.laweekly.com/

Take a stroll at Santa Monica Third Street Promenade at night, lots of restaurants, shops, sidewalk performers etc.
http://www.thirdstreetpromenade.com/

Got to go to a Dodger Game at Dodger Stadium Chavez Revine. See the schedule and hopefully they are in town when they play. If you are on a budget, they have Pavillion seats in the outfield that I think have all you can eat food (no alsohol served in this area). Night games are great during the summer, perfect weather.

Yes, you definately got to go to In'N"out Burgers, get the double double, or if you are really hungry and a big eater, they also do triple-triples, quadruple-quardruples etc (not on the menu, just ask for it). They also can do grilled onions on top (ask for it animal style, again not on the menu).

Those are my ideas. I hope you love L.A. like we do. Have a good time!

Don't forget to visit Staples Center on Figueroa street ! They're now selling everything at double-lowered prices ! I bought today two swingman jerseys with Kobe( gold ) and Bynum( white ), a jersey with Kobe, Pau, Fish, Lamar and Andrew 2 pair of Lakers socks for 112 $ !

LA Downtown looks beautiful from Wilshire blvrd., but it is almost dead, I mean that you'll see few people there after 10 pm.

You can visit Beverly Hills to admire those beautiful houses, Sunset Blvrd.

You know that those from Universal may have done it deliberately by putting the building on fire just to make the insurance company to do all the reparations and renew completely the building !

Smart ?! Yes !

Dude, don't go to a Dodger game. There's a 90% chance you get in a fight or get stabbed.
