Kupchak also questioned whether center Andrew Bynum has been cleared by his doctor to begin training. Last week, Bynum's agent, David Lee, said his client had been given medical clearance by Dr. David Altchek and would start training in two weeks.
"I'm not saying what he (Lee) said isn't true," Kupchak said, "I'm saying he has not been cleared."
Whats going on with this? Is this more drama created by Bynums agent. Whats up with this guy? This was suppose to be a easy going, no drama summer....lol.

Wow, it's been almost 7 months since the initial injury and still uncertainty on if he's cleared to work out or not... Hopefully this is just miscommunication between his agent and the organization and not a step backwards in his return.

This is starting to turn into a ugly mess of "he said, they said, we said ", just a bunch of Bull Sh*t. Drew's agent is starting to be a real beyatch. Drew has left town so the Laker doctors can't even look at the knee.
We need to get this sh*t under control now, cause from what we all can see the negotiations for that extension is going to get dirty.
And once again Mitch doesn't know how to speak. Instead of saying, " Well we haven't been informed on Bynum's status with his injury", he goes and directly insinuate that his agent doesn't know what he's talking about which shows his bad communication skills. He did the same thing in 04 with the whole comments about the team and who was available. And that pissed off you know who.
I thought Buss paid John Black to be the team spokesman not Mitch.

Eh this is just MItch saying that Bynum hasn't been cleared by Lakers doctors (aka Lombardo).

Andrew came to my CVS in queens New york to pick up a prescription on monday. He was wearing regular plain clothes, and apparently he comes all the time cause his mom or aunt lives there or something. I said, hows ur knee? He said its getting better....I didn't ask him anything else because he looked kinda mad in a way, like he just woke up.
He was walking around fine though, and bought $35 dollars worth of crackers, pringles, chips, soda, ahhahah you name it.....

Well AB has 4 months to get ready for the new season. So lets hope that is enough time to get his knee all better and strong.

I think this has a lot less to do with Bynums knee than it does with Bynums desire for a new contract...
I think what we're seeing is Mitch playing hard-ball with Bynum's agent and his agent getting pissed cause he ended up looking foolish.
My personal feelings about this is that the timing of Bynum's contract demands is really unfortunate and a little dissappointing.
I mean, I'm sorry he got hurt, but lets face it, he showed very little in the way of justification for a new contract. Yeah he had a few good games but I know it'd be hard for me as an owner to justify a big pay raise for him based on that string...
I really think Bynum has some external pressure on him to make it big as fast as possible, and I think that's too bad for such a young guy. When he first got to the Lakers, his family had a lot to say about his situation. Since he's been here he's made comments about being an all star and the best etc. Which on the surface could just mean he's a young dude that's excited but coupled with the other stuff, it could indicate he's in hurry or under some pressure. That's fine and all and in fact might be the mark of an excellent player, but I just hope he (or his family) isn't getting frustrated with the rate he's developing and start thinking he could do better elsewhere...
I mean, has anybody thought about how the Gasol acquisition coming after his injury and after Kobe's criticism, and the subsequent success of the Gasol Lakers might have messed with Bynum's head? He really hasn't had a whole lot to say publicly since then...
I just hope his pressing for a new contract isn't a result of him feeling like he either gets paid by the Lakers now or goes somewhere where he can be the star...
Does anybody really think Bynum 'Didn't Know' he was supposed to talk to the press after the Exit Meetings?
