It seems like it. Camby is making like 15M next year. I'm trying to figure this out...I guess they were having no luck with the negotiations with Smith or Iggy.

Man the clips are going to be an odd team next year.

My guess is they gave up on Josh Smith because Atlanta can match whatever offer the Clips throw at him, but why use the space for Camby? He's one of the most overrated defender in the league, and he doesn't fit into any position offensively.

Woops, misread the ESPN article...

But the Nuggets have yet to advance out of the first round with their Allen Iverson-Carmelo Anthony-Camby core and, according to sources, opted to shed the remaining two years on Camby's contract (worth nearly $15 million) to create the flexibility that could allow for more changes.

I guess that's over two years not one.

by taking on camby's 2 yr deal they don't have to mess with ugly free agency AND they maintain the coveted 2010 plan when camby, thomas, and mobley come off the books.

SWEET MOVE. I love it. Short term contract and they stay competitive. I don't care what anybody says, a frontline of Kaman and Camby is going to be pretty tough to deal with.

Yeah, Smith and Iguodala and Okafor were really longshots anyways.

Clippers are doing a great job salvaging a tumultuous summer.

I know we got Pau for almost nothing ! But man, we gave up his brother who's gonna look strong in the future, Javaris. 2 future 1st round picks and Kwame Brown who can't play whatsoever !

save money for what? isn't camby atleast like the top 10 center in the NBA? i'm sure there are teams out there right now like maybe even freakin chicago scratching their heads saying i would have given up kirk hindrich for camby.

why would the nuggets trade for hinrich when obviously they were more interested in saving money?

there isn't a single team in the league (other than the grizzlies) that could have provided the nuggets with the immediate savings (20 million dollars this season) that the clippers did. this is the same reason the lakers got pau gasol.
