I'm a Hawks fan

but my team of the west is the lakers ........anyway

Kwame jus worked out for us. and i wanna know how is his game
i catch alaker game when i can but i don't remember kwame.....i know he got traded
but i mean when he was on the team .

all the hawks need is a 7 footer that can rebound and play d but how is his O

kwame isn't a great rebounder, kinda below avg for his size. his defense is good, no one is going to back him down. he'll lay his body on the line and routinely take a charge, won't try to block many shots though.

offense? gotta be able to hang on to the ball before talking about offense.

I suppose for a team that is desperate for a big, you can sign Kwame for part of the BAE, but I really don't recommend signing him for more than a year, because his performance can make your blood boil to the point you think the Hawks front office is as incompetent as McHale.

For what I imagine you guys would need him for (which I think would be a solid 24-28 mpg) he could give you a solid 6 and 6 with good defense on about 55% FG... Possibly 8 and 6 if the coach is confident in him and he is injury free... But dont expect too much more than that.... He will miss a lot of layups and bobble a lot of passes... IMO the defense would be worth it for what you guys need him for....

His last season with the Lakers he would give a guy a lane to the basket and he'd gamble on reaching around the player and trying to poke the basketball away as a ball-out and most of the time it didn't work and the guy would get a dunk. His man d is alright but his low iq makes him make bad decisions.

He is a former no1. Draft Pick. But that doesn´t mean he is good... I definetely would prefer Mbenga.

Defense: He's one of the better big man defenders in the league. As mentioned, he doesn't let others back him down because he has the size to hold his ground, which forces opposing bigs to typically take more difficult shots. On help defense, I think he's adequate (definitely not below average), but it's certainly not his strong point. Man-to-man defense is where he really excels. If you want a guy that can guard the likes of KG, TD, Bynum, etc., then you probably want Kwame on your team, especially since he can be had for cheap.

Rebounding: You'll never get 10+ per game from Kwame because he doesn't crash the glass hard, however, he's great at boxing out and allowing others to get rebounds, which is something that we currently lack on our team. We have 2 or 3 guys that go after boards, but none of them are willing to stay put and ensure opposing bigs don't have a shot at the board.

Offense: He's just not a very good offensive player in that he can't really create for himself. His problem is that he rushes EVERYTHING, so he tends to bobble the ball a lot and take awkward shots because he's off balance. He's got a ton of speed for a guy his size, he just doesn't know how to properly utilize it. Having said that, he's still an efficient scorer in terms of shooting percentages. Last season he led the Lakers in FG%. His FT% leaves much to be desired though, and it seems that as his playing time decreases, so do his percentages. One thing that often gets overlooked is that Kwame is actually an excellent passer and he was pretty much the only big on our squad that knew how to set a friggin' pick. He does have his place on offense, as long as he's not expected to be a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd option.

I think Kwame is a very capable center when you consider there are a plethora of teams that rely on their center almost exclusively for defense. San Antonio, Boston, and Dallas are a few teams that don't rely on scoring from their big men (assuming you don't consider TD a center), and you'll note that each of these teams have reached the Finals. A big like Kwame has plenty of value if you have another option down low (PF) that can score, while also having a perimeter threat, so in those situations his offensive capabilities become irrelevant. That's the primary reason why I'd like to see the Lakers resign him, but it seems unlikely that we will.

Edit: Just to add to the above, one of the things that has really slowed Kwame down is injury, which has really plagued him throughout his career. The past two seasons he's just had flat out bad luck with other bigs coming down on him. Last season it was Camby coming down on his ankle--twice, and this season it was Ben Wallace falling back on his knee. Before that, I don't know how he was injured, but you can expect him to miss 15-20 games a season due to that.

Also, don't make the mistake of thinking his #1 pick means anything or over-expect what he'll give you. Many Lakers fans did just that only to set themselves up for disappointment. Realizing his strengths and weaknesses early on will save you plenty of frustration.

I miss Kwame. he was the inept C that everyone loved to hate. The actual Laker players really liked him I think he was probably one of the most liked players on the team. He got a bad rap due to his HUGE contract, but if you get him on the cheap I think you should be happy. We could've used him against the Celtics. My favorite thing Kwame ever did (other than the cake incident) was when he punked Boris Diaw by standing over him in the Lakers Suns playoffs.

Kwame .......................... I liked Kwame until he played for LA.
When he got traded I was extremely happy, but now I wouldnt mind having him come off the bench for peanuts.

Ahhh, that's who it was. I remember he did that, but couldn't remember who he did it to or when.

Yeah.. after Kurt Thomas, I think he would be my choice to sign to the team.

I can deal with all the problems he has making 2/3 million a year. For 9 million.. I can't.

I still also have faith in him. There's always been a part of me that says "If he would just do this.. he would be an All Star" and it just never came to be.

Kwame Brown makes it like playing 4 on 5 because you can't give him the ball so kind of like Ben Wallace without the D, Rebounding and Shotblocking.

Kwame Brown is a loser, period, point-blank. Don't like him, don't respect him, don't want him within five states of the Lakers.

Sedale I feel like you and me and the few people on the board are the only sane ones. Kwame Brown is the other teams best player unless we are playing the Cavs, that is how bad Kwame is. Kobe would have had around 1,000 more dimes.
