Tractor Trailer trying out for the Lakers

Robert "Tractor" Traylor, a former Michigan and NBA player who is serving time in a halfway house for preparing a false tax return, will ask a federal judge today to amend his probation conditions so he can try out for the Lakers. In September, U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn sentenced Traylor, 31, to three years of probation -- to include three months in a federal halfway house -- after Traylor recorded as his own two homes that were owned by his cousin, convicted drug kingpin Quasand Lewis. Detroit News
But when Traylor got a chance this week to try out for the Lakers, his probation officer denied him permission to leave his halfway house and make the trip. Traylor's Detroit attorney, Steve Fishman, filed a motion Tuesday asking Cohn to overrule the probation officer, saying the judge "clearly intended to give Mr. Traylor the opportunity to obtain an NBA contract and continue his professional basketball career." Link shminkInteresting... big and cheap, but really wouldn't DJ be a better option?

The guy is big for nothing from what I can remember. Hardly uses his weight to his advantage,
Id stick with Mbenga. Guy is more athletic and is an active shot blocker. At least he tries.

Great, all we need is Shawn Kemp and Rodman to make this team into the Ex Con allstars.

Actually, the only bigs I remember who made Shaq bounce off them were Danny Fortson and Tractor Traylor...
Though I don't think Tractor is someone we should pursue so much at the moment.

We can/should hope that 'Drew followed Oden's path as to building his muscle even when wasn't able to actually play basketball.

If true, that's unreal. Gotta give the kid credit for putting in the work. You don't get that muscular and lean without throwing some serious weight around and being extremely disciplined with your diet.

I think Lakers' should sign him over Benga, Traylor is a big body that has a clue at the offensive side of the floor and can keep bigger guys of the block I would think... I'd almost rather have Traylor and Benga for the minimun over the third G either Crawford or Karl.
Like keep them on roster maybe inacitve but can't hurt to have some depth W/ the likes of Chris Mihm and his injury history. If Mihm can't go where do you turn you got Bynum, Gasol and LAmar that's it right now, with specualtion on Benga but somebody else could add him for depth so no guarentees for depth.

I'd much rather like to know if he can use his physique to box out and defend than score or rebound with the limited minutes he might get. DJ actually showed a streaky jumper at times last season and his shot blocking ability is to be respected.
