Still looking for a defensive small forward....

Post#1 » by DWCP2 » Mon Aug 4, 2008 2:55 am

Well here's a thought for you to consider, and only consider, but admittantly this is like the right fielder to a right handed batter.

Shawne Williams!!!!

First thing you will very likely look at is the trouble he surrounds himself with, and it's hardly ever him. In fact, the majority of Williams offenses have been traffic violations, though major.

So what's the point?

Some believe he's got the talent and he is still young, but he needs maximum seperation from Memphis and from his buddies. The preference is likely to be West coast bound.

The difference between Indianapolis and Memphis is roughly 7 hours. To Los Angeles....25 hours.

His contract for this year is just over 1.572 million.

Thoughts???

1) Ariza was seeing his first action in 2-3 months

2) since when did Shawne Williams become the Paul Pierce stopper??

How can you discount missing 2-3?

Either way it doesn't matter. The FO thinks Ariza is that guy. We would have made a trade if we thought we were in that much trouble. I think the Lakers think Bynum/Ariza are the difference between winning that 10th banner and not.

We'll see.

Ariza better have a decent 3PT shot handy for the coming season... the floor spacing in the starting line-up won't be like it needs to be. It'll be better in the finishing line-up if you guys go with Fisher/Sasha/Kobe on the wing again, though.

In regards to Pierce, I think Mitch might have asked himself, "With Bynum healthy and Odom starting at the three spot, can Odom lock down Pierce? Is he strong enough? Yes. Is he quick enough? Yes. Is he long enough? Yes. We don't need to make any moves to protect us from PP".

We're not just adding Bynum next season. We're also freeing up Odom from the responsibilities of guarding the Boozers, Perkins etc of the league.

Nobody here seems to seriously consider this. Odom won't have to be heavily relied upon down low, next season.
