AB17 is working out in with his trainer in Atlanta.

They have an updated blog from his trainer --giving us Laker fans a little taste of his progress.

From what Dr Z is reporting, AB is back, ready and focused.

Link

llow me to formally introduce myself; I am Dr. Sean Zarzana (Dr. Z), Andrew’s personal trainer. I am pleased to report that Andrew has earned a Sunday day of rest after 10 straight days of grueling re-conditioning. He arrived in Atlanta late on the 23rd of July and wasted no time beginning his training the next morning.

Andrew wanted me to share with all of you what the last ten days have looked like from his perspective. It all begins on the track at about 7:30-8:00 a.m. each morning for a serious hour and a half workout. We must begin early because after all,....... this is “Hotlanta” and after 9:30 a.m. one could practically melt! Immediately following extensive work on the track we move on to resistance (weight) training in the weight room for about a one-hour session. Basketball is the last activity for the morning/afternoon session and varies from one to three hours. Later that evening he is again put to the test for one more conditioning activity which usually lasts for about an hour and a half. That only leaves time for healthy eating and much needed sleep. This guy is a serious worker; you almost can’t give him enough.

At lunch on Saturday, Andrew said something that made me realize that he’s back. While eating grilled chicken and green beans he was cradling a basketball as if he were holding an infant in his arms. (Keep in mind, this was in the middle of a fairly busy restaurant). He excitedly yet softly spoke the following words, “Yo Z I can’t wait for this season.” There is a look in his eyes and a confidence in his workouts that should get all in Lakerland really excited.

Check back as we will update his workouts and progress from time to time!
Cheers. — Mags

Best read ive had this whole week. Not too detailed, but it does show Andrew has that fire in him to come out and explode on the scene like we knew he did. Great to read.

Also, about 70 hours or working out the past 10 days? Anyway you look at it, thats completely insane.

Those 9% BF / 290lb reports are beginning to have some substance behind them.

Ahh extensive work at the track. Z's probably making him run 20 100s or shorter distances because basketball is short sprints.

I just hope this message is pure and has nothing to do with contract negotiations. Given how his agent has been weaseling and manipulating lately, it's hard not to at least wonder if he put this in motion. One shouldn't have to question the authenticity of a little blog entry like this by Dr Z just because of a rotten agent. He should get a new agent, right now. Until then, I'll celebrate his conditioning when I see him in training camp. Why not write it himself? Something smells fishy.

Because he's out pumping that iron as we speak!

Really though, I doubt there are ulterior motives behind this blog entry. I mean, its not like Drew's contract offer has to be made within the next week or something. Lakers will still have a chance to see him play, and will reward him with a contract accordingly, regardless of what some blog in the offseason says about his workout routines.

The Lakers will offer him a contract solely based off his production on the court. A blog entry in the offseason by his trainer will not change what he will/will not recieve.

Andrew Bynum's goal for season 4 has always been: make the All-Star team.

Do it Drew!

Totally, I'm sure he's blog savvy. This wreaks of Bynum camp propaganda. I mean, I'm sure he's working hard, but this is an appeal to make Bynum more popular and his agent is a doooooooooosh. We should start asking Dr Z some questions and see if we get anything more than a public relations autoresponse.

Well, if were Bynum, I wouldn't be writing this on my own either. Something on the lines of "Drew has been working hard 10 hours a day under my supervision" sounds much better than "I've been working out hard, doing sprints and weights, so get hyped up folks!". If anything, the latter would sound more fishy to the skeptics.

Anyways, I'm glad that Drew has a Kobe-like work ethic and that he's serious about making the all star team this season. I personally can't wait to see him back throwing down dunks on the other helpless centers around the league.

I realize all of that.

I'm just saying that it could compromise Drew's integrity, and personally, I'd hate to see that happen.

Drew is a high character guy and shouldn't have a dweeb agent with poor judgment putting Andrew's good name and character in question.

To me though, if Drew is working this hard and comes back healthy the Lakers would pay him the max. And if they don't our future is pretty much screwed. I don't see how his agent really has any power, it is all upon Bynum being healthy.

thx crow... yea i think i peeped that back in april when we were all thinking he'd be back for the playoffs....

I'm hoping to see something a la Dwight Howard muscle from the way all the reports are coming in... still I mean where are they keeping him that he's not spotted out in public, it's like last summer when we heard reports of Bynum working out. I'll admit I like what I saw in the kid beginning of last season.

I would just feel better about the front office not trying to replace Ronny right this min instead of waiting it out. And I have to sa kudos to Mitch for not panicking and signing Bynum to a max contract based on a couple of mos work too....
