Joe Smith??

Post#1 » by joe.linnen » Sat Aug 16, 2008 6:33 am

I was wondering could we get him from OKC? I was thinking this ever since the trade went down between OKC, MIL, and CLE. Do they really need him or what. I know that their Power Forward position is covered. Nick Collison (6 foot 9), Chris Wilcox (6 foot 10), D.J. White ( 6 foot 9), Donyell Marshall (6 foot 9), and (6 foot 9)Jeff Green. I think they could stand to lose him. My other question is what can we give up to get him?

do the lakers have an expiring contract that would allow OKC to not take on any long term salary? no
did the lakers just sign a backup pf? yes
does this post belong in the trade thread? yup

If we have the resources, he's an obviously good addition and no Josh Powell is neither as good as Joe Smith and nor does he have the same experience level so signing him is not an excuse to ignore this option.

I think Joe Smith would be a great addition to the Lakers...but I don't think they're in the position to get him.
