not saying there was anything wrong with the amount of respect he got at first or anything. it just seems like some players that didn't really know him see him in a different light now,and i think that's pretty cool.
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!

Kobe will get his in LA and in most parts of NBA cities. Other places he will be booed and those fans would die to have him there. Since he is not there. It is just easier to boo him since he is not on there side.

Just like all the Beat LA chats. It is a form of respect. We win a lot and those other cites just can not hang with it.

I think that his work on the Redeem Team has shown a lot of the maturation of Kobe over the last year or so since the trade demands of last summer. He has gone from aloof loner to a team leader and it is also good to see rehabilitate his image.

has there ever been a makeover this quick before in sports? kobe went from being dogged out to loved in one year. i agree with the other poster about kobe maturity also. he seems to get along with people for real, doesn'tlook like a moment for the camera.

well, there's the possibility that the US media couldn't give him a break. I mean, they were over-analyzing everything he did and said here, wouldn't give him any breathing room whatsoever, never gave him the benefit of the doubt...

is it a surprise he seemed so guarded?

It's not so much maturity as it is being comfortable in an environment where people aren't eager to cut you down, criticize your game, blame you for everything, and bring up everything in the past to prevent you from living in the present.

The fans and press respect and love him outside of the USA, so it's hardly a surprise that he opens up a lot more overseas.

I think that it's great that Kobe is getting his much owed respect. He has earned it. I think most of it should be accredited to his maturation as a person. It seems as if more and more young NBA players are willing to go to bat for him, which must be a sign of him being more generous to them.

It sure was great watching him with that gold medal in his hand, having earned every ounce of it and having those guys to share it with. There should be no more doubt about who is the best player in the world. Even in that company, he stuck out. Even in that company, he took over the game when it needed to be taken over. It's quite amazing how he always manages to perform his best when it matters the most. Kobe is a true champion.

The Kobe of today is much more likable than that of three years ago. He's become more of a generous big brother and less of a bragger.
