Lakers need Livingston

Post#1 » by Dexmor » Sat Aug 23, 2008 4:28 pm

For so many reasons we should sign him.

Reasons

1.He can be had for cheap
2.He has allstar potential
3.PG is our weakest position
4.We have no real playmakers except Kobe
5.It would give Kobe a much needed break of not having to be sole playmaker
6.If he did reach even 70% of his potential we would have 5 stars in our starting 5
7.He is tall and Phil loves those tall pg's for good reason
8.He is versitle and can play 3 positions
9.He doesn't have good D now but is young and with Kobe and Phil that could surely change
10.He seems to be completely over his injury
11.Talk about high risk high reward, this is low risk super high reward
12.If he works out we are set at pg and C for the next 10 years min
13.Him and Bynum can get chemistry and be the foundation of the team in 8 years when our core guys start to get old.
14.He was super athletic so even if the injury made him lose a step he is still very fast and will probably be at worst average in athletism at the pg spot
15.Has the court vision of a Jason Kidd, Nash type player and the passing ability as well.
16.With our team he has probably one of the most highest probabilitys of succedding with 4 scorers to give the ball to
17.He is one of the most unselfish pgs in the game and with our team that is way better then 2 pgs who only shoots 3's and Jordan Farmar
18.We would have the biggest team in the league. Kobe would be our shortest starter and we would be taller then everybody at every position every night except sg but Kobe is there so it's basically every position.
19.Even compared to Portland we would be hands down the most talented team in the league.
20.Assuming he did work out if we needed to make some moves with Odom we would have an excellent chip in Farmar.

I am not even close to being done. I could probably give about 10 more reasons.

Reasons not to sign him

1.He could get hurt and then they wasted a small contract

THat's it.

he could probably get more playing time (which is what he probably would want) elsewhere

In terms of quantity or quality.

I think in terms quality sf is our weakest. [depends on how odom can be]

Fisher/farmar are fine sharing mins @ PG

The Lakers should sign Livingston, just to light a fire under Farmar's @$$, like when Crit was here

Ask yourself this question: can Livingston start for China in the Olympic?

Lakers will have Sun Yue who play the same style of ball as Livingston. At least he is healthy.

If he wants the vet min. I would bring him in for a look. I think he would be better served to go over seas, play a season there. There season is usually shorter and see what he has. He can earn more money and get into NBA shape. If he is 70 percent that was reported last week. I would say he needs more time to get 100 percent. I did read where he was dunking and running, that is a good sign. Just his health is the last major concern.
