Bynum and Gasol

I know that when we traded for Gasol many people wondered and even questioned if they could play well together. I feel that they would be great playing side by side, sort of like the twin towers. I wonder if they could put up 33ppg/19rpg/7apg/3.5bpg. I know some would that would be to much for them to put up, but I also feel that Kobe's scoring would go down and his dimes would go way up. Odom or Radmanovic ( if he get his **** together) should be able to get more shots and I think he could put up 13-15ppg as well. If they could pull this off then we would have a well rounded front court.

Bynum 15ppg/11rpg/2apg/2.5bpg
Gasol 18ppg/8rpg/5apg/1.5bpg
Odom 15ppg/8rpg/4apg
Radmanovic 13ppg/4rpg/2apg
Kobe 25ppg/6rpg/7apg
Fisher 12ppg/3rpg/4apg

I can see both getting 20 points and 10 rebounds a night.

i dont think both will be 20/10 players....kobe will still average his 27+ppg

18/8 for gasol and 10/12 for bynum sounds about right

odom will have his 20 point 14 rebound 5 assist game followed by his 4 point 6 rebound 2 assist game every now and then.

fisher's PT will decrease this year, as phil noticed how valuable he is in the post season (see jazz series) farmar and vujacic will eat up his PT.

vujacic's points will go up as will his PT, obviously...expect kobe to play more 3 and odom more 4, as gasol or bynum rest, when the team is trying to play small and fast.

i dont see any significant changes in walton, radmanovich, farmar(except PT), or mbenga, assuming he resigns.

powell will see useless minutes, or minutes when phil is going really big.
mihm should be solid this year as our primary backup C.

coby karl will get his chants, sun yue will be used for sales, and the other rookies will get to carry veteran luggage all around.

Agree with everything you said.. except for bynum/gasol's ppg.

Drew will be the one catching the majority of the lobs/easy buckets right at the rim while Gasol operates in the high post.. Becasue of this I see gasol's ppg dropping a bit.. something like Gasol 16 ppg 7 rpg Bynum 15 ppg 13 rpg.

Oh also.. Mihm won't be our primary backup center.. Drew will give us around 30 mpg.. atleast 14 of the remaining 18 minutes @ Center will be given to Pau.. While LO slides over to the 4.

Well, i mean, theres really not much to discuss.

You simply posted your opinion on a topic that most would agree upon. Theres little room for debate (unless Kobe is the main point of debate and your name is Jordan23Forever).

I don't think either player hits 20 ppg to be honest. Gasol will come pretty close, but probably ends up at around 18-19 ppg, and I have Bynum pegged for about 16-17 ppg. Bynum I expect to grab double figure rebounds, about 11 while Gasol I have at 7-8.

Their games fit really well imo because of Pau's face up abilities and both players passing abilities.

I expect Bynum to average 15/11 and Gasol 17/7 with both player shooting close to 60%. That would simply be superb in my opinion.

Remember, our bench is going to be very good now that Lamar is going to be in it. We don't need heavy production from our starters.

Do you guys think Odom can average 15 ppg with the return of Bynum thus alleviating him of the pressures to score?

I'll say it again; it's a match made in basketball heaven.

OFFENSIVELY
Both have a very high basketball IQ.
Both are unselfish.
Both are excellent passers.
Both have excellent court vision.
Both have excellent hands.
Both move very well without the ball.
Both have deceivingly long arms for easy put-backs and rebounds.
Both are over 7 foot tall.
Both shoot free throws well.

Pau's face-up shooting must be a focus for him before training camp. If he can drain that mid range jumper at a high clip, he will get opportunities to drive and that is something he's very good at — he's quick and can dunk with very little effort. If he gets cut off on his way to the hoop, he can dish it to the open Bynum. If they back off of him, he can shoot the jumper. The adjustment period for Pau should be minimal. He's not exactly been a one-trick-pony-under-the-rim center his whole life.

Bynum needs touches early in every possession. If he can be our offensive anchor in that we set up the offense through him in the post every time, we'll be impossible to beat. That's why he needs to work on getting in position quickly. Once he starts getting the rock down low every time down the floor, we'll control the pace of every game we play. If we control the pace and thus get the high percentage looks we want, we'll be the aggressor. The aggressor always wins.

DEFENSIVELY:
Both have a very high basketball IQ.
Both have excellent court vision and can read the opponent's game well.
Both are over 7 foot tall.
Both have deceivingly long arms for blocks and rebounds.
Both have great hands.
Both are relatively quick.

Both of them must start pulling the chair a couple of times each in every game, at least. It keeps the opponent on his heals (figuratively speaking) like few other things. Neither of them do it at all. It was my absolute pet move of Karl Malone's. Not only does it lead to a turn-over, but it keeps paying off, sometimes for a whole game. The opponent gets either embarrassed and loses confidence, or gets pissed and plays out of character, or gets in foul trouble.

Defense is the area in which I think Bynum will excel the most, next season. His pick and roll defense was starting to take shape for real, right before the injury. His PNR defense is already way better than Potatoe-Shaq's ever was, in my opinion. He still has ways to go but he's come far already. When it comes to holding his position down-low without fouling, he needed to add core bulk and it sounds as if he has.

Pau's low-post defense isn't exactly stellar. Good thing we have Bynum to do most of that. I hope we add Zo before the year is over, so we don't ever have to watch him guard the rim for us again. Pau needs to improve his positional off-the-ball defense, but overall, I'm not worrying about Pau's defense at the four as much as I did when he played the five a lot. Pau is a much better high post defender than he gets credit for, due to his quickness. Together with Bynum and Odom, one would think that we'd have an advantage in defensive rebounding. I want to see Pau getting more of a rebounder's mentality, next season.

If they both stay healthy for the entire season and get lots of playing time together, it'll be extremely hard for opponents to deal with these two down the stretch and in the playoffs. Inside-outside shouldn't be a problem next season if the guards do their part.
