I want him here.

I say lets go after him invite him tto camp with us. I feel that he could be that other player that could help us. I know we have a stacked team already, but adding him to the Lakers would be nothing but good. He's not a bad player at all, he was just a star on a losing team and what star player would be happy playing for a losing team. It's like a Hampster on a damn wheel. I think he could do fine out here. Hell he could help us close some tight games as well.
SF:Ariza/Walton/Yue
PF:Gasol/Odom/Radmanovic
C:Bynum/Mihm/Powell
SG:Bryant/Vujacic/Karl
PG:Fisher/Farmar/Marbury
That's a pertty deep team.

I'm no Lakers fan but it's a long way from a wise move bring in Marbury especially when you were so close last year, Marbury is a locker room cancer.

To both of you. He's a great player on a bad team. Hell if I was him I wouldn't be happy either playing for a team like that. If he eats up Farmar minutes then oh well. Farmar has been given the chances to prove himself time a time again. Farmar can lead the bench but its just those time when he just dosn't show up.
Fisher, Bryant, Radmanovic, Gasol, and Bynum
Marbury, Vujacic, Ariza, Odom, and Powell
Farmar, Vujacic, Ariza, Odom, Powell

We bring him in and then place him on teh bench or 3rd string and think he wont cause problems? Lets get out of teh NBA Live state of mind here. If anything we need to find the most capable DEFENSIVE PG we can find to plug into our rotation.

Kasib Powell doesn't sound like too bad an idea considering from what I heard he'll be cut from Miami's training camp...

If Marbury gets bought out (big if at this point) and if he comes here (even bigger if), he won't be no 3rd stringer. He'll be our starter at pg, though he might start off the bench for a little while until he gets the basics of the triangle down.
Still, not likely he's coming here though (unfortunately).

I agree, I really think this would be a good addition to the squad, because like it or not D Fish is getting old. Marbury is a very talented player who is consistent every year. Marbury's problem last year was with Mr. Thomas over there not his teammates. You have never heard a member of his team down talk him or any one player he has ever played with. If anything he thinks highly of himself very similar to Kobe. By any rate Phil has away of working with problem children, think back to Rodman, J.R Rider, Kobe, Shaq. You don't let talent just walk away he deserves a chance. I guarantee what ever team he plays for this upcoming season he will do very very well and we regret it, not as much as the Knicks but everyone will regret not giving him chance.
Pull D Fish off the bench ready to go for the playoffs rest him most of the season

We need postive players on our team. Not a cancer!

I'm undecided on the issue.
One thing I do know is that more intelligent players have been unable to fully digest the triangle. Let alone Marbury (not exactly the sharpest knife in the droor), who would be asked to initiate the triangle quite often.

Marbury would be a great get. Go for it! As long as the LAL never let him do an interview everyone would be fine. Dude either loves to get baked, is crazy, or both, but he'd be a good get, and the LAL could afford him right? What would we have to pay him?

who calls him a cancer? The same reporters that call Kobe immature. Find me a teammate who has played with him in the past, that would back that up. You most likely will not find one. Don't always believe what you read guys. All the things that have been said about Kobe and we all still want him here because we feel none or most of it is not true. You guys just read this stuff on your favorite websites and now its all true? WOW

In what ways do you consider Marbury a cancer?

No question Stephon is, or at least was, a hugely talented player. Maybe he's at the stage where he's ready to turn his career around. Who knows? People had major doubts about Bob McAdoo at a similar stage, and he turned out to be a key contributor to multiple championship teams. So stranger things have happened.
But he's had enough well-documented character and attitude issues that I'm not willing to brush them off as mere media fabrication. Plus, there's the indisputable fact that he's been a career loser whose teams have all seen better days once he left.
Also, how does a player who has dominated the ball throughout his career, with little impact on anything but his own numbers, suddenly switch gears and fit into an offense that demands movement both with and without the ball?
Again, maybe he truly is ready to turn it around. But I can't imagine he'd be coming for anything less than the MLE, which doesn't exactly make the cut-him-if-he-fails scenario feasible. That money doesn't just vanish off the cap; indeed, it actually doubles with the luxury tax, so that's actually a pretty expensive risk.
I've seen enough from Farmar -- all he's done so far is work hard on his game and improve every season -- that I'd much rather see him get any minutes that could potentially be wasted in a gamble on Marbury.

ok just no way in hell. It's not reporters calling him a cancer. He's been banned from the team, he's never been on a winner, and yet when he leaves the team he was on suddenly re-emerges every single time! Don't be fooled by his skills, we want him to go to the celtics or rockets. Do some research on his career and record. You will see, it's very obvious what effect he has on teams.

it's funny how there is no response to this "cancer" question everyone threw this around as an excuse not to pick him up but no one can defend their line of thinking. Is that because there are no reporters or so called experts telling you what you should think? Because mostly I see copy and pasted quotes up here. I mean getting him over is a looooong shot but I don't really see a reason not to entertain the thought. No disrespect to anyone up here I just feel strongly about this guy and no one wants to give him a shot and his skill should be what were looking at. Very underrated at the moment maybe just what we need

CC, don't forget that he allegedly got into a fist fight with his own coach as recently as last year, when he also went AWOL. Granted, it was Isaiah. But still. That can't be good for team morale.

you know I love coming up here there is always great conversation and I love you guys for that but.....
none of those other teams he has been on was nearly as talented as the new Lakers, Celtics,or even the Rockets where he had to be the best player. Not the case if he makes it to either of these teams, and people do learn from mistakes. Kobe up until two seasons ago only worried about his numbers, but the team was not this talented. I promise if he makes it to any of those teams he will dominate. He does not need to be the best player

between the two I would have liked to pull francis than marbury away from the knicks.
That said, I'd go for it at least to experiment. Phil's good @ controlling head cases.

If he's available for the minimum NBA wage... it's a no brainer.
BUY.
