The biggest pro and con of the season if that it is a contract year for both Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom, 2 of our best players. Both players WILL have the best season of their careers because they want to get paid. Lamar is talking about all the work he has done on defense and on shooting the 3 ball because he wants to be the starting SF. Bynum says he is better at everything and wants a max deal.

I don't know what is going to happen to this group after the season because of the salary tax.
But if this team wins a championship I say pay em!

Those contracts are going to be the motivation Bynum and Odom need to bring it. Both players will play like all-stars this year. The game is easier w/ a good team and these guys are hungry.

With all the financial uncertainty lately I think even rich basketball players are paying more attention to getting paid. My theory is the Lakers will win championship because of the great play of all Lakers especially Bynum and Odom in contract years.

I want to believe that our players are competitive and professional enough to want to win it for the prize itself. I would really like not to think that they are in it for the money.

Yup^. I agree. It is pro sports, but without that pure hunger to win, no matter what, no rings.

correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Kobe have an opt out this coming. Summer? If so this is arguably his last big contract, but we all know money is not mamba's motivation.

This season has an 04 feeling to it cause everyone has a chip on their shoulder plus the future is uncertain for this team. Let's Learn from our mistakes so hopefully the results will be diff than 04.

Our year our time should be the theme.

But we all should realize that it's not all about the prize... it's about the money. IF they want to win then they will play their heart out, bottom line, no money, no contracts attached. But we all know come contract time they're going to demand all they can possibly get. Look what happened to Turiaf... and here we thought we had him all figured out (contract-wise/desire).

Don't forget about Trevor Ariza. He's a player that definitely wants to improve his stock. The way things are from him currently right now.. he would probably get 3-4 million a season. IF that.. so no doubt he's gonna have a good season for us. The way Phil is talking, it sounds like he's going to get a lot of minutes.
