antonio mcdyess

Post#1 » by TruSkool » Tue Nov 4, 2008 3:21 am

can the lakers use mcdyess?
i dont know how his contract lays out but what i do know is this...

i play fantasy ball, and last year he had something like 666points and 666rebounds.
thats an average of 8 points/8 rebounds flat.

now if you think about it, either we can get release josh powell, and let mcdyess come into the rotation, as bynum and gasol come for a rest.

if we think more logically, antonio, at his age, can still put up decent stats. this would give us a huge pay cut if we decide to let go of lamar odom. he still plays the 4 coming off the bench, and mcdyess(assuming he gets 8/8) can somewhat fill in lamar's roll for a fraction of the cost.

use odom's money defensive small forward (shane battier or the likes), and let trevor ariza come off as the 6th man.

we wouldnt miss odom 1 bit, because it would be like trading odom and getting mcdyess/battier

i know its easier said than done. seeya

If you think even more logically, we won't land McDyess because he has already stated he return to Detroit if he is bought out.

And if you think even more logically than logically possible, then you would know the Lakers will wait before they have any assumptions as to how to deal with Odom and Ariza.

Dice is 35, 12 years in the NBA, so he will not be playing for the vet min.

Rather give those minutes to Josh Powell and I'm being serious here. Dice will return to Detroit and he might not be ready to do the dirty work that PJ Brown did for Boston.

well, if you think even more logically than the person thinking logically than logically possible,

then the nuggets have cut juwan howard...ive always thought he could help the lakers since i saw him play on the rockets vs the lakers....

his 20ft J is cash, and he WILL play for less money

ESPN is already fueling the hope that Dice will 'suffer' in southern cali as a Laker.

It would put the Lakers over the top !!!

I hope he goes back to detroit....rather there than boston, or giving the spurs help.

Wiretap says the celtics want him, heard about 2 days ago that the spurs would try hard for him. We'll have to wait and see what happens. It would really be up to where he would wanna go.

The Cavs want him as well, they apparently have the full MLE to offer if need be.

I coudl be wrong but I swear I read somewhere that when a player is bought out he can only sign for the minimum in the year he was bought out. They can sign on extra years after that but the current year they play for the min.

Not completely sure. Don't we also have an extra roster spot also? He'd be a slick add for our bench and he'd be as fresh as possible in the playoffs with our depth. He is perfect for the triangle and knows how to be physical with those teams like Boston and the Spurs.

I'd love to see us sign him. He's a very solid veteran who will improve our depth even more.

He's a solid glue guy type role player, so there is nothing we should worry about if we're considering offering something to him imo.

^^Exactamundo.

If not, I just hope he goes back to Detroit. Him going to Boston would be bad for us.

looks like we're not getting him.

If the reports are true that Denver plans to buy out the last two years of Antonio McDyess' $13.63-million contract and make him a free agent with the ability to sign with any team, don't expect the Lakers to make a bid for the 6-foot-9 power forward.

The Nuggets acquired McDyess this week from the Detroit Pistons as part of a four-player deal that included Allen Iverson and Chauncey Billups. McDyess has refused to report to Denver.

The Lakers have a 14-man roster -- one shy of the league maximum of 15. The Lakers also still have their mid-level exception of $5.59 million to offer a player like McDyess.

"He's a good guy," Jackson said. "He's a good player and he's experienced. But right now in our situation, other than just watching what's happening, there's no interest that I can call right now."
