Joel & Stu

Post#1 » by DubaLakers » Thu Nov 13, 2008 2:54 am

These guys are hard to listen to. I'd much rather Spiro and M.T. do a simulcast in the future. I have never cared for Joel because all he used to talk about was the Spurs this, the Spurs that, yes we get it former Spurs announcer.

I used to like Stu when Chick would lead him, now that Stu has been around a while he talks as much if not more than the play by play man, Joel "Go Spurs!" Myers, on every possession. Stu will say I'd do it this way, or they should be doing this, every possesion. I'm going to show them what they are doing wrong. I'm going to have a talk with them on the plane, etc. Then he tops it off with KB24 love that's nearly as bad as Vic the Brick's KB24 schoolgirl crush. I love John Ireland though, he's great.

Am I alone in this? Do you guys like this crew?

I hate Joel's voice and Stu makes me laugh with his retardedness. I'm to used to Stu though, I can't imagine not listening to him.

Not a huge fan of Ireland either. His interviews can get pretty awkward at times.

It seems like a lot of announcers/sports writers are just fanboys...gets old after a while.

Ah come on Dub ! Joel believe it or not has a lot of history with L.A. sports. I don't fault him because he worked for the Spurs, anybody will take a gig if it's open. Spero's style doesn't quite translate to TV yet.........give'em a couple of years and I'm sure he'll be our TV guy.

yeah, i'm too used to Stu.. that's how i remember when there's a game on. Sometimes you're just too busy to check the schedule... turn it on and if Stu's voice is there.. u know there's a game on hehehe. I wouldn't mine Spero as well. I like his analysis.
Joel? don't really much care as long as they tell us will enthuiasm about our team. That's what a team announcer is supposed to do right? That's how i see it when i listen to other games on XM/Sirius radio.

I like them both, I actually think joel is turning into a Lakers homer. Since i'm not in L.A. anymore I have to get all the road games on league pass & believe me most of the announcers especially Portland's announcers are not only biased but bogus @ the same time. Most of the are definate Laker haters. The N.O. feed was very fair tonight but you knew they were going for the Hornets, to me that's how it should be. As I stated before I think Joel has turned into a Laker homer a little & that is a breath of fresh air for me when i hear the home games. I liked stu even when he was with chick except in the beginning when he took Erickson's place It took some getting use to his voice but he knows his stuff & I really appreciate that

I don't hate them, I just don't much care for them. Stu talks too much for an analyst, every possesion he critiques. Joel sounds like he smokes 2 packs before every telecast. Spiro's words flow alot easier, and MT isn't such a chatty Cathy.

Stu is cool. Joel, I just like the impressions they make of Joel on PMS Show with Petros and Money.

Spiro is really good and should be the play by play guy on TV.

I agree 100%. Joel is not the best commentator.

I don't think it'll be long before Spero gets promoted to TV, though. I can't see that promotion not happening next season. If not, I'm sure he'll get a network offer soon. They'd better sign him while they can. It would be cool if it happened before this season's playoffs, though. We need a new, young, entertaining, and long term play-by-play guy for this new era of dominance — the Bryant-Bynum era. That way when we watch these guys in the future, winning rings on BSPN Classics, it's rock solid all the way from announcer to players to coaches. Boo-waah-haha!!!

I can already feel the repeat of the Finals coming. Seven games, double overtime, Staples Center, Kobe buzzer beater. There, I called it.

I like our announcers, surely one of the best in the league.

I do miss Jeff Van Gundy commenting on games though. He was on ESPN or TNT wasn't he?

I find it hilarious when Stu pretends to get into the heads of the players.

*Kobe makes a behind the back pass to Bynum for the dunk*

"Paul, you might lead the league in assists, but Im the best player in the league and can do better than you!"

"and then Bynum says, "Take that NBA!"
