I hope Ariza and LO stays with us...Lets sign Stephon

Trevor Ariza reminds me a lot of the vintage james worthy during the showtime era. His versatility, athleticism and aerial assaults makes him a very great fastbreak finisher. Man we did the right move of shipping the slow Brian Cook and the expendable Mo Evans to the Magic for TA. For me Ariza is like a bullettrain very fast very smooth and can carry the load. Lamar Odom reminds me a lot of AC Green. Although AC doesnt bring the ball well LO is the total package he rebounds, score creates a lot of situation for his team and is willing to sacrifice for the sake of his team. We need this guys to stay I hope we can have them around next year. And also I hope we sign STEPHON MARBURY.

Stephon might be a headcase..but Phil is an expert at controlling headcases (Rodman?)
I think Starbury would be well behaved on this team simply because he is actually playing for a contender, not a joke like the Knicks. Not to mention Stephon and Kobe are friends, and they respect each other. Even if the Starbury experiment doesn't work out, who cares? Just release him. A low risk, potential high reward move IMO.

No offense to Phil, but some morons aren't capable of being controlled. Rodman was a HEADCASE, but he was HIGHLY intelligent.

Remember Smush Parker? Phil never changed him.
Kwame Brown? Confidence of a pea with Jordan and Kobe berating him. Marbury doesn't belong on the lakers. NO way!

You're comparing Marbury with Smush & Kwame? Seriously?
OF COURSE Phil can't change Smush and Kwame..they don't have a lot of talent . Marbury, if he concentrates, can very well be an All-Star.

We arent signing Marbury. There is no playing time for him here. Dead topic.

I just don't get it ?!! ! Why do we need this player ?! He's zero attitude, he's not the same he's been a long time ago, we don't need him, he's not better than Fisher or Farmar in defense IMO.

If Phil could handle Rodman that doesn't mean he'd control Marbury !

Open your eyes, gyus ! We don't nned him know when everything is working so well ! We're not gonna waste time on Marbury to teach him the triangle, or whatever he'll do here ! He won't get even 5 minutes a game ! Why do we need that ??

Let's sign Marbury ! Let's sign Marbury ! :banghead:

This is the same topic you were shot down on before you just added Ariza & LO's name to it, but the underlined topic is still about Stephon & the general concensus is still NO.

Considering we're 24th in point guard production per game, I'd say there easily is playing time available if Stephon plays on the level he's capable of. Fish and Farmar aren't really playing that well this season. We're killing teams at the 4 other positions, but actually lose the point guard match up on average.

You're entitled to that opinion, but the statistics show that Fisher and Farmar are the worst point guard tandem defensively out of any team in the league. As a duo, they give up more production than any other point guard rotation in the league.

We can't get worse defensively at point guard.

You can't be ideal as a team.

No one in this league knows better the triangle than Fisher, i mean from PGs. We're 13-1, it takes time to learn this triangle, especially when you're PG. Do you want to break the momentum ?! Hell no !

I like Fisher because he's clutch and he does pick up those momentum changing charges. I also love Farmar because he is so athletic and can finish with a dunk, and is a pretty good shooter, definitely improving every game.

But defensively they are the Lakers weak point. If you look at the Lakers weak points it has to start at defending PG's and defending those PF/C's that can shoot with range.

So what teams are those?

Detroit with AI/Rasheed
Boston with Rondo/KG
NJ with Harris/Yi/Lopez(Lakers made him look good)
Dallas with Kidd/Nowitzki

I'm not so worried about the PF/C because over the course of a game those PF's and C's get tired and they aren't hitting those long range shots like would earlier in a game.

But those PG's that can penetrate and screw up the Lakers defensive rotations will give the team headaches. That is the primary advantage I see that the Celtics have over the Lakers is that Rondo can defend Fisher/Farmar, but Fisher and Farmar can't guard Rondo......

it seems about the only justification for getting marbury is Phil has dealt with similar before

but who says Phil wants to do that again? maybe he's tired of dealing with head cases

lets move on, DON'T DO IT MITCH

I don't know why everyone is riding Fish so hard. Yeah his defense may not be up to par but he was 1 of the MAIN reasons we didn't lose to the Mavs. Even though he was giving up easy baskets, he was countering by scoring himself. I would add a cancer like Stephon to a team that's trying to earn their 1st title, he could really mess up the team chemistry

24th in pg production with a 13-1 record? You honestly think Mitch is gonna sign Marbury, and Phil is gonna bring a new PG in to the system and give him more minutes over fish and farmar?
