Article: Phil and Realgm posters see Eye to Eye!

Ok the real Article Subject is "Odom asked to Lead the Second Unit"

http://www.latimes.com/sports/basketbal ... 0763.story

Interesting Read. Particularly this part:
Both Jackson and Odom turned their attention to rehabbing the second unit, the primary culprit in coughing up so many large leads in recent games.

"We've had guys that come in and at times are looking to either pad their scoring average or try to play the up-tempo game when it's not the right time," Jackson said. "On the road, they've got to learn how to slow it down and exercise the options the offense gives . . . instead of just doing it off their speed and quickness and dribbling acumen."

This is EXACTLY what we were talking about in my "Do you think we're running too much" thread. I'm glad Phil sees this too and is addressing it. Because after a few games of giving up big leads, it started to look like realgmers knew something the coach's didn't. :D Let's get this under control Phil! Before it bites us in the a** come playoff time.

So why didn't Phil address this sooner?

What makes you think he hasn't? Just because he doesn't say it in the media doesn't mean he isn't saying it in practice.

Because until recently our bench, and its up-tempo style, had been very effective, blowing numerous close games wide open and allowing our starters to get valuable rest. But as Phil noted, there has to be some situational intelligence applied, particularly in games where we already have a big lead and no longer need to run, such as Indiana and Washington.

Exactly, I think our second unit needs to learn "CONTROL"

They cannot be running with their head cut-off every time.

The road is where Phil was really pissed about the situation, like he said you can't be doing that you have to be able to run the offense and to my knowledge nobody has stop the Triangle.

I agree Mang, but seriously our threepeat Lakers use to do the same thing.
