Damn beat me to it fisher, but yeah could you expand on that a little? Like Strengths and weaknesses.
I've seen on this board if I'm not mistaken that quiet a few of you were quite high on him while he was here.

i LOVE j critt.
in my opinion he is pure young talent. I was obviously happy in the gasol trade but i wish we never gave him up. Hes gnna be a solid pg in the leauge. Critt is a great backup for Gil .
I dont really love the idea of him going to washington only because he might not be able to reach his full potential with limited playing time. its all good though he is a hell of a player and worth the trade

He's a talent and you're doing him a great favor by taking him out of that hell hole and away from that coach. He surely won't disappoint you.

Critt was one of my favorite players when he was here. He has loads of talent. I'm not sure what happened over in Memphis but I assume he just didn't get much of a chance at point because they invested such a high pick on conley and had Lowry to boot. Anyway, he has a lightning quick first step, great handles, great size for a pg, good passing instincts. It was a shame that we mainly used him as a sg next to Farmar on the second unit because I would have liked to see him at the point. He needs to work on his range (3pt range was limited), his decision making and his defense. But if (IF!) he fulfills all of his potential, he could be a Baron Davis type of player. Good luck with him, I'll definitely be rooting for him.

He's a solid player, let's see if I can remember back to then.

He's got great handles, can beat a lot of people off the dribble. He finishes very well around the basket.

Good athleticism, strong hands. Capable of being a good defender at the PG position in the future.

His jumpshot was the weakness of his game when he was here. He's not a great three point shooter, at least when he was here. He'll knock down the odd one, but he needs to be more consistent.

Hope that helps.

Lakers fans didn't really watch him because he got almost no pt.
We know how he played in college and in summer league.
Wouldn't the Grizz board be a better place for these questions?

The other thing people don't talk about as much as his offensive potential is his D potential. He takes defense personally and you can see he wants to be a lockdown guy. He has the tools, but he's still very young in his angles, over aggressive spacing, and gambles. I like that he's not really a matador defender but he's looking for too much block/steal contact when he mans up.

His offense is touted because he has handles and is very flashy. I'm sure he can add the J with time if he's committed and he has what you can't teach in a knack for clutch:

He sucks. He needs playing time and time to develop.

Not much we can say really since he barely had any playing time with the lakers prior to being traded. But look for him on youtube... you're sure to see some highlights -
Got good handles and can beat guys off the dribble. I was surprise he was not up there in the draft. I heard the only reason why he was bumped down so far was because he and some ankle injury of some sorts.

But if we had the choice i would have kept him for sure. So our current PGs some moves lol.

I was probably the only one here that had reservations about him at the time he was here.

His skills have been pretty well addressed already, so I will say that I think he can be a huge contributor to your team.

(1) He should get plenty of burn with Arenas out and he will need it to get back in game shape and lose the rust.

(2) I think he and Arenas can be a deadly 1/2 combo. Put them both on the floor together (they're both combo guards who cares what you call them) and keep the floor open and spaced. With these two pushing the tempo with your great wing players and young talent inside, you will have a fun, competitive team.

Enjoy!!

Kobe thought Javaris was going to be a very good player. It sounded like he liked him better than Farmar in interviews, though he gave both of them props. Javaris was eager to learn everything about the game and he has the physical tools to get there; that's why Kobe took him under his wing.

From the games I watched Javaris play here in LA I'd say his weakness is definitely his average jumpshot and his ability to convert around the basket. A lot of that was probably just rookie nerves and his complete lack of experience. I think its a lock that he'll improve those things cause he has that killer instict in him and it's only a matter of time before he gets confidence and that feeling of "hey the ball belongs in my hands". Another physical limitation of his is his average wingspan, I mean he doesn't have gator arms but having that extra 4 inches on his wingspan would make him much better on defense and probably a highlight film around the bucket.

I'd say his strength is his ability to break down defenders at will. If you give him the opportunity to go iso he can get into the lane and kick that ball out. He still needs work getting in the right mindset of how to contort his body in the lane or how to just draw that foul as far as finishing for himself goes. Whether that strength of his is utilized is a question though, because here in LA he only had the freedom to do it in garbage time. Defensively, he'll be solid. He definitely won't be a liability. I think he will develop in the next two years though. He's got too much hunger in him.

You gotta understand though a lot of our impressions were from his first 3 months in the league his rookie year though. From what I saw I predict he has starter potential, but mostly likely he'll be a really good sixth man like bobby jackson was.

For me in the small sample I seen, which was typically in garbage time Critt has a thin frame on the defensive side and he lacks a consistent jumper.

He can get to the line with some quick steps but his in traffic finishes need work, and when he gets to the line the biggest problem for me is that he hits like 1 outta 2.

That being said he has the skill level to play and would benefit from a 10 game span of consistent play of around 20 min a night, in which he can go in and not be afraid of making mistakes. And JC is not a pass first point guard by any means.....

not enough pt time but from those few minutes he had some nice ball handling and at least trys to attack the rim as much as possible.

He's sorta like a poor Man's Iverson from my memories. Has really high potential to develop.

You got a complete stud. I think he has a great NBA future and I'm dead serious.

Wouldn't surprise me if he's an all-star in two years. Very unpredictable change of pace offensively, he keeps his defender off rhythm and knows how to pass and score. Great eye for the game. Like with Butler, I was hoping we could somehow get him back before the league notices how great a talent he is, but I guess it's too late now. Enjoy.

He didn't get too much burn with us last year, but I remember thinking his defense isn't all that bad either. He's strong and quick and tall.

EDIT: Remember that he still has some ways to go. He's a young and inexperienced prospect still, but has a boat load of talent.

Kobe took a liking to Critt early because of his work ethic. Another positive thing about him.
