pau gasol is our best player

yes, i think hes better than kobe now, and i believe he brings more to the games than kobe does. hes just flat out more consistent.
i feel like kobe is on the decline...his shots arent really falling. his midrange game is starting to dissapoint me. and it seems like hes just starting to lose his explosive step since he settles for more jumpers than driving to the basket...

i think kobe is averaging the least freethrow attempts this year in a long time (someone plz confirm this)...i have to say gasol is our most consistent player, and my favorite player on this team...hes really the only one, along with fisher, who brings it every game....(knock on wood)

gasol has been the lakers most consistent player, but he's not better than kobe. there are only a couple of players in the league that are better than kobe, and pau isn't one of them.

that being said, pau has played better d than kobe, or at least tries much harder.

its this simple; Pau has been the best player on the team this year, but we will not win the championship if Kobe doesnt become the Kobe that we all know. It is a very long season and many of the things that are happening right now will change because of injury or us gelling as a team.

This season Pau has been the better player. That does not mean he is a better player than Kobe. To be honest Kobe hasnt played that well, he hasnt had that swagger that ill take over a game and steal this one. Maybe he is saving it for the playoffs. Overall this theam had been dissapoting for most of the season, dont let the record fool you. Lets see if they can pick it up tonight againsts Orlando.

Relax, it is early in the season still. Kobe has the ability to up his game at anytime he wants. The main concern at this point is to get the rest of the team up to par. Also to get a true 2nd and 3rd option playing at remarkable levels like Pau has been, so the double and triple teaming of Kobe won't happen again in the playoffs/finals.

Kobe>Everyone else in the NBA (don't forget this, even only after 20 some odd games)

Hmm, I'd have to disagree with that, Kobe does so much that's not on the stat sheet, but Pau is playing great. BTW woulkd KB24 have missed that FT?

I can't believe this hasn't been locked or the poster hasn't been torn a new one by anybody here. Gasol better then Kobe? Is Gasol even better then Dirk Nowitski? Is Dirk better then Kobe?
This is a joke. Players start to decline at 33. Kobe is 30. He won mvp last year. He is clearly still as athletic as any of these 22 year olds. The only player that has the arguement of being better is Lebron James.
I would like to know to the guy who said there are only a few better then Kobe who is on that list?
Kobe is also clearly deffering to his teammates. He is on a really deep team where he basically plays the pg or quarterback as he calls it and tried to get everybody else involved.
If Bynum and Odom went down or something and Kobe had to carry the load he would be getting 30 again like it was nothing and having a bunch of 50 point games.
Does Gasol even play D?
Come on this is freaking retarted.
Think Gasol would play with 9 fingers?
Is Gasol superclutch?
Can he score from anywhere?
Do you think coaches are like damm I we have to play Gasol tonight or do you think Kobe worries them?
Think any GM would take Gasol over Kobe? If they did they would probably be shot.

Anyone else tired of this myth?

If it were true, then Kobe would have hit that shot last night. If it were true then we wouldn't have lost the Indiana game. If it were true would we have lost to Detroit in the finals?

I know we all love Kobe, but this myth has to die. It's not logical. We're deifying a man. Nobody can expect one player to "turn it on" whenever he wants. It's not going to happen. Ever.

Kobe is the best player on the team. Pau is playing the best on the team. These are two separate things. So guys like Star, don't let this hurt your ego, nobody is saying Pau is better. We're talking right now.

Kobe has underperformed in more games this year than we're used to seeing. We've been spoiled for a decade. But whether that means he's on the decline or not that's premature to say.

Ludicrous.

Pau Gasol is a fine player, one of the best power forwards in the league. But he's not one of the best in the game, and he can't impose his will on the game like Kobe can. Also, the responsibilities that Kobe has to shoulder is by far the greatest on the team, and among the greatest in the league. Short of our success when our 2nd unit was tearing it up against unprepared teams, Kobe has to do way too much on our team, due to our lack of a playmaking point guard, defensive stopper, and poor offensive execution.

Pau's a top notch complementary player, but he's not more than that. He's consistent because he plays within himself, but there are limitations to that. He can disappear for long stretches simply because he's not strong enough or tough enough, mentally and physically.

What's with the Kobe criticism?

His three-point shooting percentage is down, but so are his attempts - otherwise everything is at or above his career percentages, which is remarkable considering he's playing less minutes. There is zero decline, he's in fact become more efficient.

That Kobe's last shot bounced out means he's on the decline?

Give me a break. All clutch players missed plenty of game winners, including Reggie Miller and Jordan.

Actually, the game last night reiterated that Kobe's at the top of his game, going head to head with Wade, who has the benefit of having the entire offense structured to get him looks at the basket.

If only our team were also able to make the game a bit easier for Kobe, instead of forcing him to do way too much. Kobe was bailing us out of this ball game, he picked us up by the bootstraps, don't hate on him because the last shot rimmed out.

Kobe carried us in the 4th, just as he did against New York, when we won by 2 points.

Just be glad we have a guy who is able to do that. Something that Gasol never was able to do.

I know that shot was so freaking close.
Also crazyeights he clearly wasn't saying this year he is playing better. He went as far as to say Kobe is on the decline and basically went off on a rant. It was not the dumbest post I have ever seen but the dumbest post I have seen that did not end up with a lock.

I still want to know who is better then Kobe? Lebron this year but that is it.

I don't mind that the Lakers doesn't have the mental edge to dominate right now, what I do worry is that Kobe has been taking on much more scoring responsibility like last year, that's something the team has to avoid. I just hope Bynum can play well enough again so Kobe doesn't have to shoulder the load.
