~~~~~~~Los Angeles Lakers~~~~~~ vs ~~~~~~Memphis Grizzlies~~~~~~~
Locale: FedEx Forum, Memphis, TN
Time: 5pm Pacific (7pm CT)
Now I don't want any looking ahead, I know there is a big game on Christmas, but like Jim Mora says I just hope we can just win a game, don't worry about the Celtics, or the playoffs, just go out and beat the Grizzlies
that is why you play the game
Now, on to the starting lineups Your visiting Lakers
Los Angeles Lakers
PG- Derek FIsher
SG- Kobe Bryant
SF- Luke Walton
PF- Pau Gasol
C- Andrew Byunm
Bench Mob:
Trevor Ariza
Lamar Odom
Jordan Farmar
Sasha Vujacic
Keys for the Lakers:
-play our game on offense
-dictate the tempo
-take care of the ball
-rebound
-get after it on defense
-don't get out hustled
Now for the home team
Memphis Grizzlies
PG- Kyle Lowry
SG- Oj Mayo
SF- Rudy Gay
PF- Darko Milicic
C- Marc Gasol
Bench:
Mike Conley
Darrell Arthur
Quinton Ross
Hakim Warrick
Keys for the Grizzlies:
:reporter: wait a minute, their the other team!
Hey Grizzlies, no free rides here :wavefinger:
Image
Information:
They have a Gasol too!, turns out we gave Marc to them in the huge blockbuster Gasol swap, well you know what happened.
They also have ROY candidate Oj Mayo, who i'm told that a lot of you were big fans of this guy in college, you know who you are
Bottom line, if you let them, they'll beat you
But if you go out there and take care of business, then this can be an easy one
GO LAKERS :clap:
listen to this while reading, its better
****Important Message for all Laker Fans****
Before we get to the game, I feel I need to address the group about the recent circumstances (last two games). We have lost a couple of close games, and I have noticed that there has been a major hit to fan moral. I am here to bring a steadying hand to the worrisome, quiet the doomsayers.
Addressing the concerns:
Image
The end isn't near
Image
The sky isn't falling
Image
and we're not all going to die
We will make it through this, it's a long season (for those of you who poo-poo this notion, its the truth, no team can go through a whole season with no adversity, its 82 games, things will go wrong) the playoffs don't start in a week, there is time to get it sorted out. I know it is in our nature to question coaching and management decisions, and player performances, but the extent that I have seen lately has been disheartening. The team knows it is not playing up to anyone's standards right now. But there is no reason to be rash about our criticisms. There is no need to cast the team into turmoil because of this losing streak. I've seen requests to fire the coaches, trade this player and that. Lets not blowup the team to ease your frustrations. Do not let this down turn in success define this team or this season for that matter, we know it is capable of much better than this. We hold professional athletes on a higher level than ourselves, but they are indeed equals to us, they makes errors the same as us, we are all human.
The team is in a bad stretch right now, but what we cannot do is abandon the team, we must continue to show our support for them, no matter how bad it gets, because that is what we do as fans, its our responsibility. This is our team, through thick and thin, ups and downs, we're together throughout. Do not let dissent and anger and frustration come between us, not when the main goal is at hand. Believe it or not, the championship can still be had, it is not to late to turn it around. But the Lakers cannot do it without you, they need all of your support.
We are Lakers fans now and forever, do not let one bad stretch of games ruin your love for this team. Do not let the ill-intent messages of fans of other teams dismay you. If we waiver or falter the group will steady you, we can get through this together. Unity, passion, caring, love, brotherhood that is what is important here. Care for each other we are all family. Do not turn from the team now, this is when they needs us the most, do not turn away from your fellow fans either, we need you. And most importantly do not turn from yourself, you are a Laker fan, first and foremost.
Laker Nation, we must all rise up together. We must put aside our differences, our problems, our anger, our frustrations, put it all aside and come together as one body. Do it for yourselves as fans, do it as an example for Lakers fans everywhere, do it as an example for other fans, do it for YOUR TEAM. Because they need your support, we cannot turn on them now, not when things start to get tough, what kind of message does that send. We need to be there, for the team and for ourselves, because we all know that we need it too. Because in the end, we are all apart of this organization, no one fan above another, we are all Laker Fans. We are all Lakers.
Now is an important time to turn everything around. Begin anew, refresh your love for the Lakers, the new season begins now. Our love for the Lakers will never be stronger.
Join me Laker nation in showing our unending, unwavering support and pride for this team. May our voice have no bounds, may our spirit infect Laker Fans everywhere. May we show our pride proudly, let it never falter. We will not be silenced. Let everyone else know we are here, and we are here to stay. Lakers before, Lakers now, Lakers forever!
Let me hear all of you,WE ARE PROUD OF OUR TEAM.
Does anybody else hate how the players are talking about their performances. There acting like they haven't been playing like crap for the past month and the only reason they lost the last two games was because of bad luck. This team needs a serious wake up call.
Lakers need a wake up call on their perameter defense and a real pg to run the team, the turn over is way too high when everybody is handling the ball.
Someone's got to clean the damn ride or get rode on by opposing point guards.
If the guards can't stop penetration then the big men gotta help.
Whether that's setting up a zone or trapping the opposing ball handlers more is up for the head coach(es) to decide.
We're better than this.
Every team goes through their tough stretches but this is a great opportunity for the Lakers to bond together and build some championship toughness/chemistry that they'll be needing in the playoffs.
Perseverance, baby.
I know this team can win a championship this season, and it looks like we won't be making moves (via trades) unless another no-brainer comes our way.
A stud free agent pick-up or a boost in the PG/SF position would be appreciated.. but we shouldn't be depending on that or blaming things on "bad luck."
The fellas just gotta play smart and confidently together and execute the game plan by taking what the defense is giving our talented/skilled offensive team.
On defense we just gotta trust and help each other.
I expected the team to know each others games by now, maybe I was expecting too much.
I believe in The Lakers and I know they can do it.. but we can't just expect ppl to lie the hell down and let us run them over b/c we were last year's runner-up to the crown.
The season is a marathon. Coach Jackson's championship teams know this, and this team definitely should know it too.
The playoffs are 4 months or so away so there's plenty of time to build on the talent we have.
We have enough to compete for a championship, but we can/should definitely improve our chances if the right pieces present themselves.
Last year was a bit of a "Cinderella Season."
This year is a different story.
Bottomline: We're a target; so we gotta play like champions to be a champions.
I agree Verb, hell at least we'll make them use some shot clock therefore thwarting what they can really do on the offensive end.
Running a fullcourt trap with Kobe/LO/Ariza/Gasol on the floor might work b/c we got the length to play passing lanes and recover.
We'll have to probably run a motion offense to compensate for a zone counter though.
I'm not sure if Phil is ready for that yet.
Or Bynum, for that matter.
What's bothering me right now is that we're not losing to better teams.
We're losing b/c we lack the desire and heart of a champion; we're losing to teams via hustle plays.
There is no reason the short-handed Knicks or the Miami Heat can hang with us. No reason what so ever. I can't even eat right now b/c we're playing complacent.
This team hasn't won anything meaningful to deserve such a pass to F'k around for 2/3 of the season and then rev up the playoff engine and mow down opposition.
Times have changed.
This is a young team learning a "complicated system" with a head coach having too much faith in these guys with little to no playoff experience (outside of Kobe & Fisher).
-Ariza wasn't really with us on our championship run last season
-Bynum wasn't either
-I don't think Walton was alive in the Finals.
Our team is getting punked right now.
We have to make them pay.
Mayo will have a big night, so will brother Gasol.
This should be a beatdown, but it won't be because our guys can't defend the pick and roll.
The way we are playing memphis know they have a shot at an upset.
This is the only win we will get on this road trip so these guys better not blow it. Otherwise it will be 0-4.
Pau should come out firing in this one. BTW.... still over Walton in the lineup. I'd rather have Vlad.
