starter voting is a popularity contest. i don't think anyone expects pau to be voted a starter. although i'm sure he'll get strong consideration from the coaches especially considering our record.

but the fact that t-mac looks like he'll be starting ahead of chris paul...

The best team in the conference always gets 2 all stars.

Gasol is a lock to be an all-star.

Gasol plays better w/ a chip on his shoulder, I wish players needing confidence ie Bynum , LO played better this year. They could have been rewarded w/ an all star birth

Definitely not as a starter, but he should make the team. I don't know how you can be 25-5 and only have a single player on the all-star team.

The bigger point might be Phil coaching the west team.

and if the coaches put shaq into the team too, it'd be the return of PJ + Kobe + Shaq :eyebrows:

Shaq might decline to play, but that would be interesting to say the least-maybe hint at a reunion in LA in the near future. But I think Gasol will be going, Dirk, Duncan, Yao and Shaq are locks IMO. So Gasol would make it after them.

Enlightenment is right, there's no way the No. 1 team in the conference won't have at least two all-stars. I don't see any way that Gasol doesn't make it.

shaq is not a lock and he is not ahead of pau on the candidates list. i don't really see any argument that can be made in favor of shaq. team success has already been mentioned. the numbers don't favor shaq either. then u go with consistency, thats not there. shaq has his super breakout games that give u glimpses of his past, but he also has some serious donuts. thats not even mentioning his need to sit out games that the suns usually lose. pau is making it ahead of shaq. i consider pau a lock, and shaq bordering the probable/questionable line.

and i have no idea what this declining to play / hint at a reunion in la stuff is all about.

Pau deserves to be on the team, and I hope the coaches do the right thing and select him as a reserve.

I wouldn't say Pau is a lock.

Starting All Stars

Kobe
McGrady
Amare
Duncan
Yao

So 7 more spots

CP3
Al Jeff
Tony P
Dirk
Gasol
West
Melo
Chauncey
Roy
Shaq
Nash
Biedrins
Camby
I'm so tired of the typical......

I think Paul, Nowitzki, Gasol, Billups and Roy can be pretty much penciled in.

From the remaining list -- which should probably include Durant, who's having a great year for a crappy team, and Jason Terry -- I would take Shaq and Parker to round out the squad. Parker might be debatable, but I think he's been great when healthy.

Too bad McGrady is going to make it; he is totally undeserving. Proper respect also to Jefferson and Biedrins; not their faults their teams are so bad. West is also worthy of a spot, but just misses out in my opinion.

Two guys I would not consider are Anthony, who has been injured and played well below his standards, and Camby, who puts up superficial numbers on a horrible team.

All-star? Lock.

The real question is All-NBA. After Lebron, KG, Duncan, who are the rest of the forwards? I'd personally go with Gasol for the 2nd team, and then Amare/Dirk for the third team
