contracts seriously dont match, lakers do this w/o a thought on talent but contract-wise? i'll address the contract situation later...
ariza + radman = 9.15mil
RJ + lue = 15.45mil, (heck why even include lue's 2.25 mil??)
add mihm's 2.5mil, mbenga's 0.85mil to ariza, vlad and we have 12.5mil, which is only JUST within the 25% in contract differences
which comes to the down side...
this is what the lakers will look like if the trade goes through
kobe $21.3 mil
pau $15.1 mil
lamar $14.1 mil
RJ $13.2 mil
fish $4.7 mil
sasha $4.5 mil
luke $4.4 mil
bynum $2.7mil
lue $ 2.25 mil
farmar $1 mil
powell $0.85 mil
sun $0.44 mil
total $85.54 mil ($83.29 mil w/o lue) payroll by season's end
luxury tax threshold is $71.15 million.
therefore, lakers payroll = ~$99.39 mil ($95.43 mil w/o lue)
now if we decide to re-sign lamar (why would you let him go??) for 8-9ish mil, our 2009/10 payroll would look like:
kobe $23 mil
pau $16.5 mil
RJ $14.2 mil
bynum $12.5 mil
lamar $8-9ish mil, we'll say $8.5 mil
fish $5 mil
sasha $5 mil
luke $4.8 mil
farmar $1.9 mil
powell $0.96 mil
sun $0.74 mil
total = $93.1 mil for only eleven players, not to mention all the minimum contracts we'd be signing AND our 2009 first round pick. $85.6 mil if we renounce lamar odom
even if we keep the luxury tax at its current threshold of $71.15 mil, lakers will be paying somewhere in the vicinity of $115 mil and $100 mil w/o lamar
^^ not feasible for Dr. Buss to shell that much cash out especially in this current financial crisis
as it stands, is it still worth it to take on RJ's contract by letting trevor go?
this makes it pertinent that the bucks be taking luke, but do the bucks have any interest in luke's contract? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!, with luke, vlad and resigning ariza, theyd be no better off cap-wise than they are with RJ
so to answer your question about the lakers interest in RJ, answer is NO, and especially not for lamar as previous attempts (last 7 months since finals) to trade RJ to the lakers have been centered around
besides, the lakers dont need more offense do they?
