It is time again for the: Bynum Watch!

Post#1 » by dingclancy » Wed Jan 28, 2009 7:08 am

1/21: Andrew Bynum delivered his career high in points going to work in the basket early with impressive footwork and focus on the post. He finished with 42/15 and 3 blocks in 36 minutes.

1/22: On a blowout, Bynum capped the night off with 23/14 and one block in only 28 minutes of action.

1/25: Shutdown/Harassed Duncan and played his best game of the season so far. 15/11 and 4 blocks

1/27: Bynum almost took control of the second overtime after the zen coach boggled us with stupid substitutions. Three straight plays where he scored only to miss a chip in. He got 24/14 with 6 blocks.

1/31: Al who? That's right Bynum was simply too big and strong for the one dimensional opponent and he owned yet another cetner while scoring 27/15 2 blocks on 10/15 shooting. Whenever Bynum sites down, AlJ scores but when pitted one on one, AlJ just get shut down.

Average in this stretch. (Updated after 1/31)

26.2 PPG / 13.8 RPG / 3.2 BPG / 70% FG / 82.5% FT / 31.6 MPG

when he shoots, i almost expect him to make every shot, including FT's.

his defense has been good all around too. one on one post d on duncan, protecting the paint by moving over to block a shot. he's just been playing superb ball.

As awesome as Bynum has been and he has been absolutely amazing, there is something I have to get off my chest. Is it me or is the Bobcats possessed? I mean, they made every single clutch shot they had. When Okafor beat you with a 15 foot jumper, there is something wrong. Our defense wasn't great, but nobody on that entire team was missing any shots at all! Man, it was like God came down himself and beat us for them.

Absolutely no complaints whatsoever regarding Andrew's performance the past few weeks. He's been fabulous.

We need this for that 22 of 31 on the road, I'll reserve judgment until then.

KG would shrink into his shell for entire games if bynum just smacks him one at the beginning of every game

I like his intensity these past few games. He's been awesome. And like Shaq, if you see a wall in the lane, don't attempt to climb over it.

I saw the flagrant foul yesterday and it didn't look that bad, i mean he's was just trying to hit the ball or prevent the shot from going in. He didn't even slam player down like what most flagrant fouls are.
But a call is a call.

His free throws are wet. What a soft touch if he continues this mark in the free throw he can really be the most efficient scoring center for many years to come.

bynum has returned to where he was a year ago. Thats great news because he already has his contract.

I was burnt when he was paid early. I wanted him to play in the play-offs like he was playing for a contract. A

Man Bynum's been playing even better than last season over these passed couple weeks... Even that fantastic January he had last year... If he continues to give us 15-16 ppg and 10 rebounds from now throughout the playoffs, we WILL win the championship imo....

The kid is simply a beast

bynum's defense is really coming around too, so its not just points and rebounds. highly touted aljeff just couldn't back down bynum, while not being able to do anything to keep bynum from getting 3-4ft chip shots. bynum also did a great job on duncan. he's been able to not get cheap fouls, usually using them up in a pretty smart fashion. that added to his obvious bpg rise, and bynum is providing the entire package. very few centers, if any besides d12 and may be yao, can provide what bynum is giving right now. not al jefferson, not biedrins, not kaman, not anyone else called a top center. heck, d12 can't provide the FT shooting that bynum can.

I think we see him playing much better defense, because his offense has come along... often times with young players you see them play un-inspired on the defensive end when their shot isnt falling/offense isnt clicking.... His defense started to pick up right when his offensive game started coming around... I dont think this is a coincidence -- just the sign of a young player.... Eventually he will learn how to have an impact on the defensive end regardless of what is happening on offense

26 points in 32 minutes is a pretty ridiculous average. With his length and soft touch, it's just a matter of getting good position at this point. I'll be curious to see what his numbers look like once he cools off a bit. Or rather, I'll be curious to see how long he can keep this unbelievable hot streak up. Not any time soon, I hope. It's fun watching Andrew work right now.

Homer here, calling PP KG's girlfriend when the laker's lineup includes lightweights like Vujacic, Radmanovic and Gasol is a riot.

No slam on the Lakers, fine offensive team.
