ive ALL for retiring lamar in a lakers uniform, then hanging #7 up there with the greatest, not for his skills in basketball, but for his generosity to the team.

I've always liked Lamar.......next to Bynum and Kobe, he was always one of my favorites. I liked Butler a lot too, then we traded him. But anyway, I've never wanted or wished for LO to be traded, even during bad times and games. It always frustrates me when people come up with threads about shipping him out. Hope he stays a Laker for Life.

I will say this..........I pray we get rid of Walton. Funny how you never see posts or threads about shipping his A$$ out............I'd settle for a couple of draft picks and a bag of Doritos.......for every good play he makes, he turns around and has 4 or 5 bad ones............. misses 4 to 6 shots and has 3 to 4 turnovers.

Do we really want to pay $9-10 million/year for Odom to be a backup power forward? I'd rather we give that money to Artest. A starting frontcourt of Bynum, Gasol, and Artest is a lot better.

More like $10-$15M -- once he hits free agency -- a bidding war can push his guaranteed money up quite a bit.

I think Lamar is a keeper for something like 8 million a year for 4 years. If only he could hit free throws at more than a .607 rate he would be so much more valuable.

That being said I think everyone is on board with keeping Ariza as well, I think he will command the MLE. I would also say Josh Powell would be really nice to have back.

Who knows maybe Kobe does a KG type move and goes a little lower and takes a longer deal. I remember when KG re signed in Boston he went from 24 million to starting a new three year deal for 18 and going up of course.

A nice one year deal for Jason Kidd would be nice but that payroll will be hitting close to 100 million if everybody is back.

I could also see an Adam Morrison buy out if he can't find a niche with this team quickly.

First of all, are you blind? Read the title of the thread. It says "Offical 'Keep Lamar in P&G' Thread".

Secondly, Bynum went down and guess who came in and helped big time?

Next, think about all the games in the past. During big games in the 4th quarter, who was playing center and who was playing PF? Gasol and Odom. Phil doesn't think Bynum's ready yet. He was breaking our 7-footers in and it was starting to look good the past few weeks but **** happens.

Oh and you were spamming hard the other day "where did Odom say he'd take less money", well he just showed you up right now.

If you have a championship team, you have to try and maintain it. Guess what? we do. Do you want to be like Boston and lose key players then whine even harder than you are whining now?

Lastly, what happened to the Lakers in 99, Heat in 05, Spurs every other year? Sometimes it takes the experience of losing 1 year to win the next year. "You don't know what you have until you lose it", some people will just never understand that since we've been spoiled with greatness and fast rebuilding.

I don't think there'll be too much competition for Lamar. Look at all of the free agents at the PF spot this offseason:
Early Termination
Carlos Boozer
Anderson Varejao

Restricted
David Lee
Marvin Williams
Charlie Villanueva

Unrestricted
Lamar Odom
Rasheed Wallace
Shawn Marion
Chris Wilcox
Drew Gooden
Brandon Bass

That's just the guys who are expected to get MLE or better offers. Few teams have significant cap room this summer, and those who do probably aren't targeting LO, especially teams like Detroit who are really aiming for 2010.

Simple question? What has Artest done positively for a team since 2003/2004?

Is he willing to come off the bench to start the season and just be plugged in at mid season and straight up ball but still being a team player.

LO is a Laker for life. Especially if we win the Title. I aint gonna lie he's annoying sometimes because he be playin around to much and not attacking. Lamar be having me on the floor laughing with his out of nowhere SMILES and LAUGHS. Especially after i had a couple of drinks. I be like what is Lamar laughing about for no reason. But it be funny as heck. A comedian with b-ball skills. You can't lose that.

the lakers can't even give artest 9-10 million, they can only give the mle, so no need for any artest nonsense.

I hope LO stays in LA. Besides his free throws, he can do it all, and play 5 positions on both defense and offense. He could be the guy who's guarding a power forward, alter the shot, grab the rebound, bring the ball in the fast break and do a no look behind the back pass to a Kobe Bryant or Trevor Ariza. He's humble and is always carries a positive attitude. I like how he yells on everyplay. It's not even a flopping yell; just a self-inspiring warcry. I see that Gasol is starting to do that too. Plus, LO is turning out to be the enforcer against KG's bullish ways. We need him alone just for that.lol

I'm pretty sure Lamar will stay for the season. I hope the switch he flipped stays in ON mode after the ASB. If he keeps playing like this and Bynum comes back, we'll be very tough to beat.

The only way I see him traded now would be due to some incredible return that makes us even more of a contender immediately. But I don't see how that could happen.
