It's that time of the year and I hate it.

They would schedule the Dunk/3point/Horse contests on Valentines Day.

If you guys got any good ideas let me know.

I'm actually lucking out that it's Reading Week and she's from out of town and going home to visit our family. So I get to chill and watch All Star Saturday night. Why the hell would the NBA schedule that on Valentines Day!?

Girls are suckers for something you had to do yourself like a list of things you love about her or things that you know about her that she doesn't know about herself... make sure it's on fancy paper.

i'm going with something along those lines in combination with a trip to the botanical gardens and a picnic with wine and cheese.

I'll get more serious about Valentines the day we also honor an annual steak and bj day.

Make her watch the dunk contest with you. Im playing around but I'm happy in not in this situation this year.

Women, as ungrateful, undeserving, and utterly useless as I think they are, love it when you cook for them. You can make her (or him, whatever) Vodka Cream Pasta, which goes great with grilled chicken and garlic or perhaps some Italian Sausage. You might follow that up by preparing a bath filled with rose pedals (for the two of you) while having some wine on standby next to the tub (I prefer good Merlot). Of course you'll want to have some music playing in the background to set the mood, so whatever you and her like I guess (r&b, ambient, death metal, etc.).

Vodka Cream Pasta Recipe

Ingredients:

* 1/2 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, once around the pan in a slow stream
* 1/2 tablespoon butter
* 1 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 shallot, minced
* 1/2 cup vodka
* 1/2 cup chicken stock
* 1 can crushed tomatoes (16 ounces)
* Coarse salt and pepper
* 8 ounces pasta, such as penne rigate
* 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
* 10 leaves fresh basil, shredded or torn
* Crusty bread, for passing

Directions:

Heat a large skillet over moderate heat. Add oil, butter, garlic, and shallots. Gently saute shallots for 3 to 5 minutes to develop their sweetness. Add vodka to the pan, 2 turns around the pan in a steady stream will equal about 1/2 cup. Reduce vodka by half, this will take about 2. Add chicken stock, tomatoes. Bring sauce to a bubble and reduce heat to simmer. Season with salt and pepper.

While sauce simmers, cook pasta in salted boiling water until cooked to al dente (with a bite to it). While pasta cooks, prepare your salad or other side dishes.

Stir cream into sauce. When sauce returns to a bubble, remove it from heat. Drain pasta. Toss hot pasta with sauce and basil leaves. Pass pasta with crusty bread.
