Hello,
I'm a french lakers fan since 1989 and for the first time of my life, i'm going to los angeles and see the lakers at staples center vs Denver Nuggets next month :D .
And i've got 2 questions,
- How many times before the games the doors of the staples center are usually open ?
- I will be in the hostelling internationnal of Santa Monica and i wanna know, is it dangerous to take the bus alone by night at the end of game to go back to Santa Monica ?

I'm always afraid of public transportation.. .maybe that's because when i was young my mom forgot about me on the bus LOL.

It should be safe i think, but the waiting is what's going to kill yah.. the anticipation... the excitement... Why not a taxi? Unless you're trying to cut cost hehe

i prefer the bus, if it's possible, for the price because i have already put a lot of money in the fly, the hostel and the lakers ticket, but only if it's safe by night after the game, cause if i'st a lille bit dangerous, i'll take a taxi.

For the excitement and anticipation, one month before i'm already excited to go to LA and see the lakers, it will be a great day for me ! :-)

And a little question again, sorry, how many times nearly of bus between staples center and santa monica ?

Keep checking back detboy I don't live in LA, but many on this site do. Deep is a local LA guy if I remember right, he'll likely know the layout, as will others.

My suggestion is get food, drink, restroom out of the way before the game, so you can get the full experience in your seat. So many fans get up 5 times a game paying premiuum prices for seats that they see half a game I'll never understand that.

I like the food right above the box office, on the patio, I think they had awesome garlic fries and a tasty chicken sandwich I always pay a little extra for the cold cut sandwich, rather than a crappy hamburger or hotdog.

I haven't been to Staples in a while though, priced out. Have fun man, enjoy!

I don't even know of a bus that goes Downtown.

Santa Monica is like a good 15 minute drive away from Staples Center.

Take the 10 east to the 110 south

Im going to my first game on April and I was also thinking on opening a thread to ask a few questions... mods, do you think it would be possible to have a sticky for Staples attendance? People could give some tips about parking, food, dos and donts, where to hang in LA and other random stuff that could help first timers like us without having to open new threads.

I went to 23 games last year and 0 this year... (well 1 game if you count pre-season) it seems the better the lakers perform the higher the ticket price is for any decent seat.. and even the bad seats are getting expensive for any good visiting team... :(

I love getting there early, even though I don't live far away. Preparation includes getting suited up with my Kobe Jersey, Lakers Warm up jacket, watch, warmups pants, shoes, face paint and P&G wig.

You can pick up some good $10 parking couple blocks away from Staples Center. I like to walk around the Nokia Center, heckle at Rick Fox while he's doing his thing. I spend a good 30-45 mins in the Laker Store. Also the lines for food and beer get long also. So give yourself some time and soak up the whole experience.

The top section 300's are where are all hard core fans are. There you'll find the fans who scream at the top of their lungs and where every call against the Lakers is a bad call.
