Did Lamar come off the bench? update: odom susp. 1 game.

Post#1 » by TonyMontana » Tue Mar 10, 2009 4:30 pm

Did Lamar come off the bench or was he sitting there when the scuffle was going on and he just stood up?
Also I dont see how this was a Flag1 nevertheless a Flag2.

1. Odom never left the bench...

2. Clearly not a Flag2

3. We see harder fouls than that every game... Some of them don't even get called. Ariza cought him on the hands/wrist/ball... There was NO body contact... I don't even think it's a Flag1
**Nevermind, I saw it from another angle and he does hit his head a little... I'm cool with a Flag1. I still think Rudy was hurt more by his fall that by the foul.***

4. Don't try to run up the score on us with a bunch of high-lite real dunks... You will find yourself on your a$$... That's the attitude that was missing last year against Boston. Our whole team should have had double-techs that last game...

5. Welcom to the play-offs b*****...
If I actually thought that was a dirty play I wouldn't say that... But that was just a good physical hard foul... Exactly what you want from your team when the game counts...

That's all I got on this one...

I just watched the first part, didn't see Lamar leave the bench area.

W/r/t the foul...definitely a F1 and borderline F2. Per NBA rules, its a F2 if the contact is unnecessary and excessive. Its certainly debatable in this case. On the one hand, Trevor made a play on the ball. On the other hand, Trevor def wound up, swung excessively hard IMO, and made contact with his head.

Glad I'm not a ref, not an easy job...even with replay.

This one is hard to judge bacause everything happened right in front of the bench but he did take a few steps forward, imo, and I think the NBA will suspend him. I don't think he should be suspended but I think the NBA will give him one game.

lol you guys are hilarious. It was a Flag2, easily. He went for his head, you can tell by how hard he swiped at the "ball". I can see Kilroy was just as pissed as Ariza was last night when the Blazers were whooping the Lakers.

1. He wasn't trying to run up the score.. he was trying to beat the clock and on a BREAKAWAY.

2. If you see harder calls than that, you must be watching football. Did you see how his body tragically change position in air? That wasn't because of somebody accidentally bumping into him. But I bet if somebody did that to Kobe, you guys would be calling for their heads right about now...

3. lol.. it's not the playoffs yet young man.. you seem to be setting yourself up for a disappointment if the Lakers end up the same way they did last year.

ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN...

You actually make a few good/valid statements. But to say Trevor went for his head is just ridiculous.

I agree the Blazers did nothing wrong by way of bad sportsmanship last night (e.g. running up the score). They flat-out out played us and deserved to win by 30! We were pathetic.

Good win for the Blazers, the W clearly means a lot more to them then it would have to us.

Difference b/w the Blazers and Lakers is that the Blazers are still thinking about last night while we are now focused on Houston.

Whatever, you must not have watched the game...

People do that to Kobe all the time... Difference is, he doesn't go down like a rag-doll every time he gets tapped.

3. lol.. it's not the playoffs yet young man.. you seem to be setting yourself up for a disappointment if the Lakers end up the same way they did last year.

Thanks for the young man thing... But you're right, it's not the play-offs yet... But we're pretty sure we're going to be there...

ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN... That's right, I forgot what it's like to root for a team that's got a better chance of missing than making the play-offs... Keep those fingers crossed dude...

Good tough play IMHO. Its a hard foul but he's going for the ball and nearly got a clean block if it weren't for Rudy's awkward body position. Good move by him to draw the foul. I'm happy Ariza didn't give up on the play and didn't give up an easy bucket, I don't care if we were down by 40 thats the attitude we need to have. Thats the attitude we were missing against Boston last year.

Sucks at the result of the play, I like Rudy a lot, but you can't be mad at what Ariza did. Trevor is a one footed jumper and a skinny guy too and he has the same thing happen to him all the time and doesn't even get a foul called sometimes. Gotta learn how to fall in this league. Rudy needs to get with DWade and Tony P for a lesson on how to fall on every layup and still get back up again

I don't think Ariza was trying to hurt Rudy, but his actions did lead to Rudy being carted off on a stretcher. That alone is worth a flagrant foul. I dunno about a 1 or 2, but a simple foul was not enough. I thought I heard on ESPN that the league will not suspend Ariza, but I wasn't listening closely. Odom DID leave the bench. Granted, the incident occurred on the baseline near the bench, but if you don't believe he left the bench, watch the Assistant Coach (Rambis maybe?) push him back to the bench when Odom got in Roy's face. Odom should absolutely be suspended for 1 game.

And you're an uncreative lil' ______ (You fill in the blank)....

7. Lakers have run up the score many times this season with Kobe playing well into the 4th Q
Name the game... We win by an average of less than 10 points. And Kobe rests for entire 4th quarters...

8. Odom clearly left the bench, I bet you he gets suspended
I've watched it from every angle I can't find a single shot of Odom doing more than standing up... I also don't see Rambis pushing him back. But if Rambis is in a position to push him back, it makes me think Odom isn't very far forward.

9. that foul had bad intensions all over it, yo boy is thug period
I'll let you have that one, because if your a Portland fan, it must be nice to call a player on another team a thug once and a while....

10. Karma brotha, Karma is coming, and Karma is a biatch!
Sweet, I hope it does... I dearly hope we face Portland in the play-offs... Karma will be in full-effect when we bury them.

You don't see Rambis pushing Odom back to the bench? You need to rewatch the video cuz he totally pushes him back to the bench. Odom is inside the 3 point line on the baseline. Last time I checked, the bench does not extend that far.

he was on floor, on BR's face. just wait buddy, the NBA has no tolerance for this $hit. Ariza gets a game or two and Odom gets 1. that's just how it is.
