Eddie Jones, my uncle, and a flight from Miami

what up guys?

havent posted too much lately as i've been trying to find employment. but, yesterday, my uncle called me to tell me about his flight home from Miami.

on the flight, he sat directly next to Eddie Jones and talked the entire flight about basketball.

two things that stuck out in my mind. first is about the famous Shaq-Kobe feud.

Eddie Jones said to my uncle that in his time there, Shaq was an **** to Kobe. every fight started because of Shaq's selfishness. Kobe simply defended himself, according to Eddie Jones.

the second thing is that Eddie Jones said Shawn Marion is one of the most overrated players in NBA history

Eddie said that numerous guys could have averaged what Marion did playing next to JKidd and then Nash.

anyways, my uncle went on to say that Eddie was a very nice guy, etc. (also, Alonzo Mourning was on the flight but didn't really have anything to say)

I think everyone can see how Shaq really is these days. Feuding with Howard, Bosh, Van Gundy, throwing rap jabs at people, etc.

Your uncle shouldve asked Eddie why he sucked so much when we payed him so much and why didnt he step in when Shaq was being a bully to Kobe so that we couldve won more titles.
Daammmmm, maybe we shouldve had you there instead of your uncle........J/K

I've always loved eddie jones...great two way player. I remember that time he dunked so hard baseline he dislocated his shoulder. I also remember this sick juke, he dribbled behind his back while changing directions so hard his defender fell so hard I couldn't stop laughing for five minutes.

That's a cool insight...but I just wish all this stuff came out a bit earlier when it was relevant, i.e., when everybody in the media was portraying Kobe as the scapegoat.

Still, we're justified in feeling somewhat vindicated as fans, defending Kobe throughout the past few years here on realgm.

Too bad they're not around to finish the discussion.

Poor Eddie Jones

He was on the Lakers then the Heat every time he leaves he is the odd man out so the team can win a ring.

Yeah that is the patented Eddie Jones move that Kobe copied. That is a devastating move on the break because it allows the attacker to change direction while changing pace. Kobe did it once this year but during his younger years it was always in his repertoire.
