Apparently, Kobe is in a pool that has been assigned to a case. Hopefully he doesn't get picked. Watch the judge be a Cavs fan and put him on a 30 day case.

Anyone want to provide a little more information on this? I'm Canadian and while I have learned of Jury Duty, I've never experienced it here. Is it a regulation in the States?

As a citizen it's one of your duties. Along with avoiding taxes, lying under oath, and writing in "Homer Simpson" for President.

i've been to jury duty for a couple of days, then the case was dismissed. it's an "interesting" first experience, then it's just inconvenient afterwords.

Basically Kobe would need to write in an excuse or say he racist or maybe claim his previous trial prevents his unbiased opinion, but yeah... it's a mandatory type of thing most of the time.

Judge to Kobe: "Go Lakers!"

Kobe Bryant has just been excused from jury duty -- but the way it all went down is priceless. Yes, that conversation actually happened. But there's more. ...

It is mandatory to appear but very easy to get out of.

I have been summoned a bunch of times and never have had to stay longer than an day. If that.

you know he got some sweaty palms....

prolly REAL happy to put the check in the "no" box where it says "have you ever been convicted of a felony?"
