MARINA DEL REY, Calif. (AP) -- Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Norm Nixon has been arrested for investigation of drunken driving in Southern California.

California Highway Patrol Officer Tony Garrett says Nixon's vehicle was spotted late Monday without a front license plate in Marina del Rey.

Garrett says officers smelled alcohol coming from the car after Nixon was pulled over, and he was given a sobriety test.

The 53-year-old Nixon, who works for Fox Sports Net as an NBA analyst for local cable telecasts, was released on $5,000 bail early Tuesday. A telephone message seeking comment was left with Nixon's agent.

I heard it was a black Ferrari. Atta boy Norm!

But bad move on the drinking and driving. I like the guy and have always wondered what he is on. At times he seems drunk and or high on air.

He was back to work yesterday during the game with Philly.

Drink and Driving is bad, period.

I don't find it shocking at all, Norm made decent money in his career and he and his wife Debbie Allen own a production company.

But 80's money isn't like today's money. Didn't know he had his own production company though. And I have no idea who Debbie Allen is.

He should be suspended! Like Chuck was. No personal thing towards Norm. But this is just stupid mistake. 53 also? wow.

Also, Jack Haley is way more entertaining over Norm Nixon.

Nixon's wife is on the right. Also I'm quite sure you recognize the other lady from the Cosby Show. Well that is Debbie's sister Phylicia Rashad who was once married to Ahmad Rashad (NBA TV)

Thats weak ish when cops see a high profile car and the first thing they do so they can find out who you are or if your legit is to pull you over for no front plates.
I get that from C.H.P all the time.
"Ahhhhhhhhhh sir I pulled you over cause you have no front plates"
My response "Ya I know if you drove a care like this WOULD YOU PUT FRONT PLATES ON IT"? LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL most of the time well 99.9 % of the time they dont like that answer, but I always carry my plate under my seat and I always tell them, My car was at a photo shoot for so and so magazine or I just did a Video shot for so and so and once they find out Im legit they let me go, but down here in O.C I never get harrassed, actually cops drive by my pad or shop and they always hit me up about some of our cars.

I ask them why do cops pull you over for B.S things like plates and lights and etc, they tell me believe it or not or than the fact that you are suppose to have plates, "IF YOU DO GET PULLED OVER AND YOUR IN A NICE CAR, The cop is jelaous of you or he is trying to harass you"
