The other day I was reading different threads on the board about our pg problem, and I wondered about how Europe for example was scouted?
Wouldn't it be a solution finding a good pg in Europe, or anywhere else? I don't watch Euroleague games or even any other league in Europe, but there must be some great players willing to play in the nba and possibly waiting for an opportunity to do it.
Any information on if the Lakers organization looks at the other leagues?

Re: Scouting outside the U.S.
There were articles in the past where GM Mitch Kupcake talked about scouting Euro players. They even drafted Pau Gasol's brother Mark before he came into his own two years ago.

Re: Scouting outside the U.S.
The problem is that not everyone wants to play here. Many players could get paid better in Europe, so there are plenty of cases where the players will not want to leave their current team to play on a rookie contract like Tiago Splitter. Then there are others who want to play here but need to be brought out, the processes are rather complicated, otherwise I doubt the Spurs would trade away the rights to Barbosa and Scola to rival teams. Drafting Europeans are always risky, and I think that the Spurs will focus more on domestic scouting since the Tiago incident, so be careful what you wish for.

Re: Scouting outside the U.S.
there is some scouting in Aus that i know of.....
Joe Ingles -who i hope to god never goes anywhere near the Lakers organization ever again, think he worked out in the lead up to last years draft, but withdrew so he could play for Australia in the Olympics. Will probably nominate this year - will be a sad and sorry organization who picks him up
In the past
Brad Newely - Drafted by the rockets in 05/06 i think
think Nathan Jawai too - who is now at toronto

Ya I thought Vlade was our Euro connection.
It seems though that the Spurs know where the Euro treasure is at.
