Ginobili Done For Season & Playoffs..

Post#1 » by Scorpion King » Tue Apr 7, 2009 1:42 am

"The San Antonio Spurs today announced that guard Manu Ginobili will miss the remainder of the 2008-09 regular season as well as the 2009 NBA Playoffs. Ginobili felt stiffness in his lower right leg during the Spurs-Cavaliers game in Cleveland on Sunday afternoon. Following the game he returned to San Antonio. Earlier today, in San Antonio, he underwent a CT scan and an MRI. The examinations showed an increased marrow edema and a stress fracture in his right distal fibula. No timeline has been determined for Ginobili’s return to the court."

According to Wiretap...

This has made our trip to the finals that much easier.. i no v could have beaten the lakers with ginobilli but without ginobilli i think v can sweep the spurs..... finals here v come......

I think everyone knows who's coming out of the West this season.

This kinda sucks. I was counting on the Spurs to wipe out Utah in the first round.

Yeah I was hoping for a full strength Jazz vs Spurs series. It would've been ideal for those two to beat each other up.

It looks like the Jazz are our biggest threat. Hopefully Orlando doesn't make it out of the east.

This just puts more pressure on the Lakers now they have no reason to not get back to the finals no team has the Lakers experience or talent to beat them in the western playoffs.

Sad to hear him go down, but you never know.. a player can have their break out game or season at any given time.. so someone will step up for sure... But laker will be ready for them hehe

Watch out for the Nuggets. They're deep and pretty consistent as of late. At least their bench looks like a 10x better than ours. If Andrew gets 100 % during the playoffs, Odom back on the bench, then I'll stay more confident.

Too bad for Ginobili and the Spurs. He is a heck of a player. I think the Spurs will still be pretty tough simply because they can shut people down defesively and they have a great point guard in Parker that can wreak havoc for teams with slower guards, like the Lakers.
That said, the Spurs chances at winning the West, went from slim to none.

Manu needs to get healthy. I hope the rest of his career isn't like this man, he's one of the most fun to watch.

As a fan, this really does suck. The Spurs and Lakers have developed quite a rivalry over the past decade and it's always much more of a treat to watch both teams at full strength. The Spurs can still make some serious noise, but at this point I think we'll see them fall to the #4 seed, which puts them up against the Blazers in the 1st round who I think they can still take out. This is actually a blessing if you ask me, but it won't be the same playing them should we meet in the 2nd round.

that's one less team to worry about in the west. only teams that I"d be leary of are the Jazz, Blazers, and Nuggets.

Sad to see anyone lose a difference maker like that. I truly sympathize for Spurs fans eventhough I hate them.

I always hope for all teams to be at full force and let them settle things on the court. I swear that when Pierce went down last year, I was hoping he was not done for the series. I did not want an asterik
when we beat the Cs. Then we turn around and played like girls and got punked.

Additionally, not too much was made of Bynum not playing.

Here's hoping there are no more significant injuries for anyone.

I must be a chump because I started doing chartwheels when Pierce got hurt. I wouldn't exactly mind if LeBron stubbed his toe in the next few weeks, either.
