yes, hes not worth the MLE

but someone will throw it at him and then he will need to decide whether he wants rings in LA or chase the money elsewhere...

i suspect he'll stay

He's awesome defensively and offensively. He's everywhere on the court. Crazy huh.. how just giving a player some more minutes to play and look how he can become.. (same with shannon brown).

I just hope he doesn't demand mad money.. so that we can keep him and LO... crossing fingers..

although in the beginning he asked to be on the bench... I think he's doing quite well as a starter and is liking it. I have never heard of a player asking to be a bench player (other than the humble Luke)... but that's the mentality that creates a great player that understands the team and the concept of winning.

With the way he's playing his mad defense and put backs... there's no question he won't be a starter next season.

He is the defenition of a midlevel expection salary. If he is not worth it who is?
I would actually give him above the midleve but for a shorter time because of his foot. It's only a matter of time until he brakes it again.
As for his play he is a above average starter. He is never gonna be a 20 point a game guy and probably does better because of Kobe but he finds in here like a glove.

Why would he want to leave?
He has never gotten a big contract so I don't see him giving a home town discount but if Kobe and Odom both do it's o.k. to pay him.
It's just a shame we paid Bynum so early.

I think his success is largely due to being on a team stacked with scoring. For someone to offer above the MLE for a guy who's not going to average many PPG, i don't see it. He probably holds more value to the Lakers than he would to most other organizations. I could see him holding good value to the Suns but he's a perfect fit for us.

You should be right. Your are right in what you said and if you were a gm it would be smart of you.

As for other gm's well there often not that bright. Just look at Damon Jones. He got a big contract when it should have been obvious it was only Shaq making him look good.

Now I don't think he will get that big contract offer cause of the economy. Shannon Brown is the same thing except obviously cheaper.

High energy players are the players I always love to watch. Having a guy like Trevorwho plays with so much energy on our team is awesome is awesome. He has improved his shot. I really hope we can keep both Ariza and Lamar. They give so much to this team. Lamar's game since getting starters minutes is phenominal.

I think this season a lot more Lakers fans relized how much this team needs Lamar and that we would not be where we are today without him. Many fans just wanted to ship him out. Hopefully Lamar sees how much more the fans appreciate what he has done for this team and takes a smaller contract so that we can keep him and Ariza.

ariza is definitely not worth the MLE

ill even give you some reasons...

compare against a player: lets say james posey, who signed a 4yr MLE deal worth 25.5M/4yr
1. hes not as good a man defender as posey
2. hes not as good a shooter as posey
3. hes not as experienced as posey
4. his production has suddenly spiked in a contract year

guys, i love him as much as you do, but im going to use my head, just as mitch kupchak will be using his head

not to mention the financial crisis. Ariza is great but hes worth a lot closer to a sasha-type 14-15M/3yr deal than a 18-19M/3yr MLE deal. time will tell but can anyone prove my logic wrong?

Using my head, if he over paid Sasha, Vlad, and Luke, he'll over pay again.

sasha got a 15M/3yr, luke a 30M/6yr, rad a 25.5M/4yr MLE

of all those, rad got the most, im sure kupchak wont go >5M per year for ariza either

Even though he saw a spike in a contract year, I think its more because he's a young player and this is his chance at legit playing time... Fans loved him wherever he went, and he has solid per 36 numbers wherever he has been... the only difference is now, he actually gets consistent minutes..> He's PER has been solid the last 3 seasons (its actually down this year from the previous 2)... His 3 point shot continues to get better... It was better this season than last and has been great in the playoffs...

As of right now, Ariza is better than Posey. Ariza's defense is very solid. He hustles, he gets steals, he blocks shots, he's smart, he contests shots. He gets beat off the dribble sometimes but he is definitely an above average defender... And I have yet to mention the fact that he is 24. He is going to get better, if only slightly. He is definitely worth 6 mil a year... I would give him 3/18 or 4/24
