This

doesn't explain why you think I'm wrong. Explain. Our problems from last year was our rebounding and our interior defense. He hasn't really made a difference in either.

Andrew Bynum did not play in the 4th quarter, thats simply it. They needed Andrew presence in there, as well as Pao...

I'm not basing my statement on this game alone. I'm talking about the Jazz series as well.

It's just a game, man. We need Bynum in a lot of situations.

I obviously agree with the Jazz series, but I think he can do things in this series. We need him to do what Rockets did to us, is clog up the paint with our bigs. We need him to be him olf self and its clearly not all there yet, but slowly he will make a difference.

McGrady made a difference by not playing. Rockets advance past the 1st round.

i see where you're coming from... we need rebounding and shot blocking, but as of late it seems like all bynum wants to do is score, and he looks lazy on defense because he's so ridiculously foul prone it doesn't make any sense.
i'm not panicking though, we'll still win the series...

What presence? He wasn't even boxing his man out in the 2nd Q. no wonder Phil must have been angry about that effort.

Bynum had better offense then Pao, but Pao had better defense. Lamar couldnt even hit a damn free throw, and didnt play well at all. If Bynum and Pao were both out there, our defense of intensity would have been better.

Part of the problem with Bynum is that the Lakers can't really play him and Gasol together all that much. It was pretty evident tonight that playing Gasol and Bynum together kills the Lakers spacing on offense.

but thats our advantage, we just didnt use it correctly. The whole point is to rough up Houston and keep our size on them, but Phil went away from it in the 4th and put in Lamar. We werent aggresive this game, and we got beat.

gasol/odom>>>>>gasol/bynum
odom/bynum<<gasol/bynum
i think bynum can play effectively with only one player on the lakers, and thats jordan farmar.

I gotta agree with kobesmyhomie on this one, until Drew learns his impact has to start on the defensive end the Lakers aren't winning anything close to a championship. Like j-far noted he failed to box out on a few occasions. We had no post play in Game 1, so what Drew score 10 point....hell Pau had 14 and 13 rebounds and looked awful the whole game. Both of these guys need to apply some hard core defense in the middle in the series or we'll be talking about "what could've been" by next week.

All your names should be fareweatherfan, because this is really a pathetic thread.
Next season when Bynum is healthy doing 16/12/3, I want someone to pull up these posts, because really it's pathetic. I'm sorry it hurts your ego that he has zero explosiveness right now (he's about where he was early this season).
That's not to say he is a bust though, or that he won't make an impact soon.
He's recovering from another freak injury and he's in a funk, losing PT.
As others have said a Pau/Bynum lineup isn't working right now because they're not being used correctly...this means that instead of Phil letting them work it out, he opts for Lamar getting minutes because it's the playoffs and we can't wait.
The problem with that is if Bynum doesn't get PT soon his timing is never going to get where it needs to be.
It's not just oh Bynum's not putting in the effort or he missed a box out on a few plays, the problem is deeper than that. And until you guys quit overacting about every game (especially losses) then I'm gonna stick to: fareweatherfans (no offense to the actual poster fwf).

regular season doesnt matter... wow he can put up a double double against scrub teams... im so proud....To be honest i thought bynum was better than this... im not even a lakers fan, but i do enjoy watching one of the better teams in the league win games. and i watch as many as i can. Its just a shame that bynum is lazy, huge waste of talent. I know a lot of lakers fans will disagree but i think they play a hell of a lot better when odom is in the starting 5. When odom starts, his game is at a different level.
Its jokes thinking back to the Utah series. bynum matched up with okur and still cant do ****... embarrassing..................

yup, im with u guys on this. Phil had bad substitutions. I mean bynum was doing well in the beginning and then he yanked him out. Derek fisher was doing horribly.. but allowed him to play. Farmar came in for 3 minutes yet he score 3 pts, but got yanked.. What gives?
I've come to the conclusion that i hate Phils' philosophy. I think that's how teams have been catching up to us... all due to substitutions and his mellow demeanor. I'm seeing other coaches getting at their players.. hyping them up.. etc.. o well im just venting cause it was clearly bad substitution that cost us yesterdays game.
