Why is everyone counting the Lakers out already?

I dont post much, I dont even post topics either. I just read everyone else's comments. These couple of days I have been sick to my stomach of everyone counting the Lakers out already. I mean it was one loss in a seven game series. While Lebron "The Golden boy toy child" of the NBA and Cavs are being showed as the true champions, we are being thrown under the bus. Not most but some Houston fans Ive talked to say the series is over already. If i can remember even the Bulls lost a game awhile back ago and still went on to win a ring. Yes we played bad, but did we play that bad that all these so called experts and such say we have something to worry about. Do you think with this team we have we are supposed to clean house and sweep everyone to the finals. I guess I just needed this post to make me feel better to get it out of my system. Houston you better bring your A game, you better bring everything you have even the refs, its not going to be easy to beat the Lakers this time around, you wanted an angry dog to fight back, you got it.

to be honest i just think that people are in a rush for kobe and the lakers to go away. they know we are standing in the way of lebron's era. they get excited when we lose so they can throw dirt, but the bottom line is this. i remember when we had phoenix down 3-1. my brother kept telling me he wouldn't get excited because no matter what the better team always wins a 7 game series. lo and behold the suns came back and won. despite the little setback in game 1 we are the better team. we played like trash they played great and we lost by 8. i give houston credit but i will never give up on my lakers. purple and gold never folds....

By everyone i mean some media members such as BSPN so called experts, stuff I have heard radio hosts say, and alot of Laker haters ofcourse. I am not counting us out, just funny how one of the best teams in the NBA loses a game and its suddenly time to hit the panic button.

Not counting us out, but the odds are definately against us by losing game 1.

Here ya go, well said :D

John Hollinger, ESPN.com: 5. We've seen this before -- Miami lost Game 1 to New Jersey handily in the 2006 conference semis, then went on to win the next four and eventually take the title. And San Antonio lost a Game 1 at home three different times and won a title. Even Jordan's Bulls lost a Game 1 in the conference semis -- to the mighty Hawks, no less -- before recovering to win another ring.

So while it's appropriate to be concerned, Laker Nation needs to understand that even the best teams put up a clunker now and then.

As soon as the Lakers destroy the Rockets tonight, all the media and analysists will go back to saying the Lakers are the best team in the league. Don't listen to ESPN or any of those other guys. They just say **** for ratings. Most of them don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

I think they realize that LA fans love drama...they're just trying to keep us reading their articles, watching their news, receiving their text updates....

It's like the swine flu, it's over-hyped by the media to make things interesting.

This is how ESPN makes money.

1.Because the matchups are terrible. A fast pg is kryptonite to us because we haven't had a real good pg since Nick Van Excel.

2.Brooks will continue to have a field day.

3.Our best player is Kobe clearly and they have Artest and Battier to guard him. It does not get any better then that.

4.YMing has come into his own at the right time for him worst time for us. It's a total mismatch vs Bynum. It's not an epic battle it's unfair.

With all that said I still believe the Lakers will win the series in 7 games. If the series becomes 2-2 were defenately got it.

I don't think anybody in their right mind is counting Lakers out of this serie, but as far as the championship is concerned, they have reasons to no longer favor the Lakers. In this playoffs, virtually every other team except maybe Atlanta, Boston and Dallas are playing at a higher level than they did in the regular season. Denver is playing the best basketball I have ever seen them play, and Cleaveland seems unstoppable. On the other hand, we keep blowing big leads, show a complete lack of effort and focus during games as if the championship trophy was already promised to us. The road to a championship does not start with a couple of games, wins or losses, but rather a continuous improvement process. We have regressed since the all star break and never got back to top form for whatever the reason.

I still believe we can beat the Rockets simply because we are the better team and I do not trust Yao to have his way against our twin towers every game like he did the otehr night. The problem, however, is that I do not see that sense of urgency this team should be dispalying in order to get back to their best. Without playing at their best, Lakers do not deserve to be the champion. Even if we do beat Rockets and then the Nuggets and get to the finals, we will still be the lesser team against Cleaveland because our heart is not in the right place. Unless some drastic changes occur after the loss Monday night, I do think the championship hope for this team is fading.
