the good and bad about sasha vujacic

THE GOOD:
1. he is a hussle player.
2. constant attack mode.
3. defensive spark.
4. pushes the ball.
5. pesty defender.
THE BAD:
1. premature fouls
2. too hyper offensively and defensively
3. subpar basketball IQ
4. he is a ball chucker.
ON THE SIDE: he said he strives to be the best shooter in the league, ala ray allen...but i dont see it anywhere in the past, present, or future.
OVERALL: hes not worth 3 years 15 million...i would either look to trade him for a jason kapono type true 3 point threat, or re-sign him after 3 years for less money, depending on how the team fares.
wat ya think bout the machine?

my pros on sasha:
1. genuine 3pt threat
2. hes LONG (6'7"), and phil loves his long guards
3. genuine hustle player
4. competitive streak, he seems to piss off everyone he guards
5. kobe does trust this guy to make threes
cons:
1. TRIES WAY TOO HARD, someone should tell him to slow down
2. looks for his shot way too much
3. dodgy bball IQ, plays the same 30ft from the basket as 10ft from the basket
4. one track mind. he only plays at one speed: breakneck, which means hes great playing in the run-and-gun bench mob during the regular season but not so great in the playoffs when pace slows and defenses are tighter
not worth 5mil per but his contract doesnt really destroy our financial versatility.

The run those out of bounds plays for him all the time i can't remember the last time he hit one. The one big shot he made tonight Battier i think was in his face, he prolly tipped it.

man, Sasha was such a great shooter in last year's playoffs and he just cannot miss. He rushes his shot. I know he has more confidence now than last year but he's playing worse. I hope he gets his stroke back and if he does, teams will be in trouble.

I've hated his game from day one! Would deal him this summer if we can find a replacement. Can you say Mike Miller( I know McHale won't deal him to us)?

tries too hard? on a team that loses intensity and focus at times, i'll take someone who is always hustling
nobody is a perfect player but sasha is what we need him to be, and if was hitting his shots right now he'd be fine
plus he has long hair that flows in the wind

The good:1) His energy level is always high. He probably snorts a lot of meth, so maybe that's not so good.
2) He can be a pesky defender and frustrate opponents.
3) He takes good photographs that 12-year old girls love.
The bad:1) He can't make his open shots and teams are starting to notice. You see how many wide open shots he's getting -- and missing?
2) His pesky defense almost always results in a silly touch foul. Good defenders play smart and don't foul constantly.
3) He whines too much. I guess I shouldn't single him out though. Our whole team whines from the top down.

Ha, now you know how I felt about Kwame, Semi. Some guys you just don't like.
Regarding Sasha, I don't know why, but I still stick with him for the most part. (Must be the photos.)
I will admit, though, while I can handle the whining and the pseudo D, all the wide-open looks he misses are highly irritating. He must have had at least three or four last night before he knocked down his first (and only) 3.
If you're going to be a great shooter, you've got to be virtually automatic on those.

I still like him and Kobe on the court for spacing, but he has been very consistent; a lot of his jumpers have been half-way down though.

Half-way down doesn't matter. Only thing that does is if they go through, and he just hasn't shot very well all season long. Decently, but not well enough considering that's his only real responsibility on this team.

That's really all that I expect from him, to be honest (much like Radmanovic). If he can shoot anywhere near 40% I'd be perfectly happy and wouldn't be on his case so much. The fact that he doesn't makes me focus on everything else that annoys me and amplifies my dislike of him.

Absolutely -- I know exactly what you're talking about.
Like I just said, shooting his only responsibility on this team, and he just doesn't do his job well enough. That's not hating, that's just a fact born out by the raw %s.
Not that it mattered in the end, but we could have had a nice eight-point cushion at the half had he knocked down a few totally wide-open looks that he has to make for him to be worth his playing time and his salary. That was about my only beef with our performance to that point.
But even with all that, I have a hard time getting down on him because I know he plays with maximum effort, and I know he wants the team to be successful.
BTW, those photos are so very lame. I still can't believe he actually shared them for public consumption.

When was the last time you saw Sasha get a WIDE OPEN in our half court offense? That's precisely why he is out there and why he is so valuable.

Sasha better regain his pulse. We are losing a dimension of our offense if these guys can't hit shots.

I never get on someone for missing GOOD shots, period.
Sasha is getting far fewer open shots this season b/c other teams were put on notice last year. Everyone who's down on Sasha needs to pay attention to the OPEN shots our other players get while he's on the floor and how Kobe gets good single coverage shots whenever he drives toward Sasha's man.

Sasha has been missing plenty of wide open shots. This year's spacing definitely wasn't as good as last year, but that's really not an excuse on his performance. I would still prefer him over Vlad Rad who doesn't play with a pulse.

All he got last night was open looks, and he went 1 for 6.

He needs to change the way he shoots. Everything seems to be "leaners" these days. Trying to copy Korver? I think he's best with set shots.. meh

well, due our typical log jam at the 2/3(nice problem to have), he hasnt logged any real minutes for most of this season, which as we saw last night with young guys, like farmar, is taking them out of their rythm...
being balls out, and highly effective off the bench is an art, a talent, and usually only salty old vets can play that way...
so while sasha and jordan have been fredo to me of late, last night i was reminded just exactly what solid flight time can do for a guy...especially a shooter like sasha...
fwiw.
