The only thing i have problems with is the "fake tough guy" label. Does anyone play through injuries like Kobe? Who went head to head with Shaq repeatedly?- and he's gotten into fights out there early in his career. Not taking Ron Ron's bait isn't fake tough, it's smart and he got his way.

Why are we worried?

Wow, people have short memories of their favorite superstars, don't they? MJ talked trash all the time. He is considered one of the greatest at getting underneath his opponents skin by trash talking. He would stare down opponents and even teammates if they dared challenge. Bird, Magic, and Isiah all trash talked, it was actually worse back then. We just don't see it because they didn't have 10 million cameras like they do now.

Keown states that Kobe wants to belittle opponents after scoring over them. Well, sorry Keown, but MJ was EXACTLY the same way. I have every single MJ playoff game on DVD, and trust me, he would always stare at an opponent after making a basket and talk trash after. People that deny this either don't know anything about basketball, or have extremely short memories. There was all the talk about Battier being able to lock him down along with Artest... Kobe is the ultimate competitor so he's fired up, I love that about the kid.

It's funny how some people rag on Kobe for being a cocky, trash talker... but all you need to do is open your eyes and you'll see that the NBA is full of them. The only difference though is that Kobe can back up his trash talk on a nightly basis.

I for one would much rather have an a-hole with a killer instinct like Kobe who will destroy the opposition physically and mentally over some smiley face nice guy like Dwight Howard. MJ was the biggest a-hole of all-time. That was a big part of his game. It made him want it more than anyone else. It made defenders dread defending him even more. He'd score on them and make them want to go cry to their mommy. It got him 6 rings and the right to be considered the GOAT. This writer knows nothing about competitiveness.
