Triangle Rules

Post#1 » by tracey_nice » Fri May 22, 2009 4:08 am

I think the Lakers should have a 4th quarter rule on offense which states that Kobe Bryant must touch the ball at least once per possession unless a WIDE-open 3 is available or a lay-up/dunk.

Yeah, it might start out as the triangle, but once the ball gets passed inside it's either a post-up, pick and roll or 1 on 1. We didn't run any semblance of offense in the fourth quarter. All freelance...

I like that rule. Let's add, three different players must touch it before it can be shot, unless someone is wide open.

We just don't move the ball quick enough. Kobe, Gasol and Bynum -- any one of them gets the ball and it just stops.

I'd be more than glad if Kobe touches the ball on every offensive possession in the 4th Q. Give him the decision making job and play your roles. That simple..

You need a team to run the Triangle Offense and players that can follow orders.

We can't run the triangle because we don't have players who can run the triangle. We pretend we have other problems in the regular season (injuries, inexperience, laziness), but in the playoffs...

it's so damn clear that we don't have the personnel to run this offense.

Giving the ball to Kobe and telling him to win the game is a sad excuse for an offense.

^Actually it wouldn't be if we had an offense that was really built around Kobe. Guys who can set solid screens, move without the ball, hustle, crash boards, etc.

The tragedy is that we have all these guys who don't know what the hell they're doing on the floor, because they know they're not running the triangle, the opponents know they're not running the triangle, everybody knows Kobe has to bail them out, so there's Kobe and 4 lame ducks in the 4th quarter.

I have another rule, don't let Derek Fisher play in the 4th.

The Lakers should've run PUKE on that last play.

Yeah Lakers are winning without their patented ball movement. At least in this series. It's like every shot is a hard shot.
