Here is what I think each player is worth (in mil)


Luke 2.5
Sasha 2.5
Odom 8
Ariza 5
Bynum 10
Gasol 15
Kobe 20
Brown 2.5
Fish 3.5
Farmar 2.5
MBenga 1
Powell 1.25
Morrison 1
Yue 750k

Total 73

Obviously the challenge w/ keeping this team together is the guys that did the contract year thing. Next year, Morrison, Sasha, Luke and Bynum will be overpaid and that might cost us Odom, Ariza and Brown.

New Idea: The Lakers would be better off to just get rid of Morrison Yue and Powell and play shorthanded if it meant keeping Odom and Ariza

Bynum and Farmar are not worth the amount you listed

Buss can afford to keep them. Blame him if he lets them go plain and simple.

I kind of came up with a 2.5 mil value for bench players that contribute.

I think the totals should reflect some of the values of being a team player. The Lakers (and other teams that care about team work) would be better if players that have a similar role are paid similarly.

Obviously there are going to be different roles.
MVP player - any MVP player deserves 20 mil
All NBA - deserves 15 to 18 mil (you get a contender discount)
Young All Star Prospect 10 mil for centers, less for wing players bigs are harder to come by
Starter 5 mil
Starter that is getting up there in age 5 mile (contender discount)
6th Man (in our case he should be paid more than ARIZA and FISH) (contender discount)

And then you the bench players that are 7-10 in the rotation. On any given night one guy (Luke, Sasha, Farmar and Brown) might be more effective. They bring the same thing to the team.

Then you got the guys on the outside looking in

Powell MBenga and Yue Morrison

Its a shame that players are paid on potential after a contract year. Really you should average what they the player contributed in their last contract together.

Sasha and Luke cashed in big after a contract year season. Players like to spin it as I am better now but you really have to evaluate them over a few years.

Sasha isn't even worth a penny

I think I'm worth at least 60K. Wow, that's depressing when I look how much Sun Yue is worth.

I wish we could just go to EDIT and change the contracts accordingly like in NBA 2K9.
