On To The Draft

Time to find another gem. This time through the draft. I think Damion James would be an incredible player for them to draft. Athletic players with good jumpshots make a killing playing next to Kobe and in the triangle (Ariza,Shannon Brown). He could be a sleeper in this draft. Any other good prospects out there in the Lakers range?

Danny Green. He is the sleeper in this draft. A lot like Ariza except for he is a developed shooter coming out of college. Ariza had to work because he came out to early. Danny Green will be a second round steal.

Unless Patty Mills drops to 29th, I would really like to see the Lakers acquire a mid first rounder to get a quality PG prospect. I bet the 21st pick could be had for nothing.

by what would jack bauer do?
Mills is a 2nd rounder in a lot of mocks hopefully that stays true so we can pick him up at 29. I'm liking Danny Green too if he's around at 42.

Good thing about this years draft is it's loaded with small pg's and athletic small forwards. The two positions we really need to bolster. The road to the championship will be a lot tougher next year and we need as much improvement with the few assets we have.

Anyone seen a lot of Derrick Brown's game? He intrigues me to no end. 6' 8.5" with shoes, 225 lbs, has a 7' 2.5" wingspan, he sprints the 3/4 floor at the same speed (or faster) than the fastest pgs in the draft, has a 35.5" max vert, he shot a decent percentage from 3 in college, and claims he can guard any position from shooting guard to power forward. I've always believed Phil, Kobe, and the triangle could turn any freak athlete with half a brain into a very good role player. So, anyone's scouting report on him and his demeanor/attitude would be appreciated.

Maybe we could pull of a trade of Farmar and Morrison for Earl Watson and the 25th pick from the Thunder. With that pick we could draft Brown and Mills or whoever Mitch thinks could contribute in a role player position immediately. They don't really have to be rotation players, but guys like Lue that have a purpose on the roster (unlike Sun and Morrison).

Plus I really don't think Farmar has a future in the triangle, Shannon Brown is a journey man and he's already proven he could produce where Farmar couldn't. Just bring back Brown on the cheap, he could probably play 1 or 2 guard next year especially if Luke and Lamar are on the floor. I can see Shannon becoming a Delonte West/Willie Green type defender at the shooting guard position. Those are two undersized and underrated defenders in the league, especially green with the way he defended lebron in the past.
