#5 traded for Miller/Foye

The Washington Wizards are close to a deal that would send the No. 5 pick in Thursday's draft, Oleksiy Pecherov, Etan Thomas and Darius Songaila to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Randy Foye and Mike Miller, a league source told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher on Tuesday.

Having a chance to work in D.C. for a couple years (now back home in L.A.), I felt kind of sorry for the Wizards, having consecutive playoff series losses to the Cavaliers and having to deal with major health/injury issues. I'm glad the Wizards pulled the trigger on this deal because a lineup of Arenas/Miller/Butler/Jamison/Haywood would challenge the top 3 Eastern Conference teams (Cavs, Celtics, Magic) next season. Hopefully if the Wizards give a greater commitment to defense, they can really do some damage in the Eastern Conference.

Any transaction that improves a low-tier team and might possibly tire out some of our Eastern Conference rivals (Cavs, Celtics) is a positive one in my book.

Yeah man what a sick lineup. Have Foye come off the bench.

GUARD Situation
1. Gilbert Arenas
2. Randy Foye
3. Mike James
4. Javaris Crittenton
5. Juan Dixon
6. Nick Young
7. Deshawn Stevenson

A lot of GUARDS

Whos the odd man out between the guards? Seems like trades to come...

I'm not sure if Foye would be starting at the two but regardless, having him for Washington automatically makes them deeper. Washington also isn't done dealing I don't think. They have a jam up situation in the back court.

That deal makes no sense for Washington. Haha.

Why's that TyCobb, WTF knows with Gilbert how he's going to do, insurance, and Miller is a dude I just love as a baller at SF...James, Stevenson, Dixon, Crittenton none of those guys matter

Lakers want nothing to do with Stevenson. Go look at his percentages. He make Sasha look reasonable.

I think they'll start Foye at 2 and use Miller as the primary 2/3 backup. 2nd unit will need some offense. Stevenson/Nick will have to scrap for minutes.

Butler and Miller is a pretty bad log jam at SF considering neither guy can move to PF/SG.

they lost miller and foye for 5th pick and some peeps... that 5th pick better be a good one. I think wizards got the better end of the deal. I mean they totally upgraded their guard and veteran roster... i know minnesota is in rebuilding mode but unless that 5th pick can be a major factor it'll be the mchale curse all over again hehe.

So they better pick that turn of events rookie. Good thing they let go of mchale. Or else i'd give him bout a year to trade that 5th pick to boston LOL. jk

I like the Minnesota end of this trade. They could easily trade the 5 and 6 to Memphis for Rubio. Maybe Memphis has to trade Laker 1 in 2010 to make it happen.

You really think that team needs more offense though? Way too many guards and small forwards on that team. The 5th pick could have netted them Jordan Hill, a player I'd take over Foye or Miller. Hell, even if they wanted a SG, they could have got DeRozan who actually knows how to play defense and isn't too shabby on offense himself.

Miller can easily slide to shooting guard, but Butler is much better suited at SF.

I say we try to steal back Javaris Crittenton.
