No #1 picks for 3 years

Without a #1 pick last year, this year and next year. Will this hurt the Lakers in a few years when the young players would have been getting more time. We need to win now and next year another run at a ring could be ours. Just wonder not having those low #1 picks on the end of the bench will hurt the future of the Lakers.

i think we have enough to get us into position for a 3peat. getting it however will be extremely difficult. the toughest 3peat out of all of the attempts by jax.

well judging from the last several years of picks -
No pick '08
Javaris Crittenton '07
Jordan Farmar '06
Andrew Bynum '05
Sasha Vujacic '04
Brian Cook '03
Kareem Rush (via Chris Jeffries) '02
No pick '01
Mark Madsen '00
Devean George '99
Sam Jacobson '98
No pick '97

The Lakers don't need first rounders to be contenders. In fact, they usually wiff altogether or get bench level at best guys. No biggie on the dumping of the picks.

Only Bynum is worth a shot, and he's at the make/break point.

Vujacic is hitting us for 5 mil - wouldn't that be better used on an MLE FA?
Same as DGeorge and BCook did to us earlier. Luckily they're gone.

^ I agree with daddyfivestar. Besides you have to look at the depth of the drafts, and by all accounts there won't be many that will be laden with talent.

Why concentrate on what the Lakers DON'T have?

I prefer to look at what they DO have...

And that is a fine team poised to repeat (and three-peat)

Too early to tell whether owning picks at the bottom of the first round this year and last year could've helped pick up a good player, but so far it seems like owning them wouldn't have done much.

On a positive note, there's a decent chance that the Lakers will have a high second round pick next draft thanks to the Grizzlies. It might as well be a low first rounder... but better. I think the following link is accurate:
