OT: Mike Bibby?

Post#1 » by 7_ace_7 » Mon Jun 29, 2009 1:20 pm

This may not belong here... but here it is. I would love to see Bibby on this team, I think he contributes perfectly for us. He can hit the 3, is a smart passer and plays decent D.

With Atlanta making huge changes, it does not seem like he will be back. At this point in Bibbys career, I dont think he will be looking for a huge payout, and could be had for the MLE. Would you guys welcome Bibby? Will Bibby want to come to LA?

Thoughts.

We have to get Odom/Ariza first. That alone is already a pain to solve in the offseason. Adding another MLE contract is unrealistic at this point.

We don't need another point guard who can't guard a FLEA. :nonono:

Have you EVER seen him play? He was a terrible defender in his PRIME. He is down right embarrassing now.

NO, NO, NO.

I love Bibby's shot, one of the prettiest shots in the game, he's basically Derek Fisher though and not nearly as all out and sturdy. He's a horrid defender, much worse than D Fisher.

For Morrison+Farmar I would do the Alston trade. It adds no extra salary and improves our PG defense.

We're interested in Nate Robinson apparently. I can see him being an effective fit against super quick PGs for us as well as PGs that are average sized. A Tony Parker or Rajon Rondo (especially Rondo since he can't shoot over him and Robinson can stay with him) won't be able to take advantage of him.

with Fish aging, maybe I'll do it but there are some much more options at the free agency, especially better point guards. Bibby is also aging, though.

Free Agents this year are going to find a very soft market money wise. A lot of teams are going to pick up good players for cheap. Bibby, Rasheed Wallace, Allen Iverosn, & Jason Kidd are all going to have to take the MLE for one or two years. Charlie V is barely going to get the MLE and he is going to have to realize he might be coming off the bench with the team that gives him the MLE. Boozer is going to have the toughest of times if he opts out. Detroit won't pay him the 13 to 15 mil he is looking for & the Jazz have to think about Milsap & Okur as well. He could ended up being offered only 8 mil in a S&T. Hedo & Ben Gordan are going to get about the same. Owners are willing to fork over loads of money at this time.

Look for the front office to resign both Ariza & Odom. Than do a S&T to land another solid player & use the MLE on a well established vet to round out the roster.

Bibby (S&T)/Fisher
Kobe/Sasha
Ariza/Luke/Yue
Gasol/Odom/Powell
Bynum/Wallace/DJ

Vet Min used on a player like Kareem Rush, Brevin Knight, or Luther Head.

That's not a problem. We can sign a quick backup PG to match up when needed.
