Influence & Input

Post#1 » by DubaLakers » Thu Jul 2, 2009 7:00 pm

How much influence & input do you think Mitch gets or asks for from the following, if any, regarding free agency...Kobe Bryant, D Fisher, Jim Buss, Jerry Buss, Jerry West, Zen X

Has anyone ever heard any of the LAL brass answer these questions?

I'd assume unless it was some monster behemeth trade, like a D12 to LA type trade, that took like 2 years off J West's life, J West isn't involved at all.

I'd think Kobe would give Mitch a call or walk in his office and chat about FA before FA began. I'd guess Fish isn't involved. I would think it was a sit down before FA with the two Buss', then once FA period began Jerry makes the final approvals yea or nea, and I'd assume Jim Buss & Mitch are working daily together wheeling and dealing.

Zen X's influence I'd assume he'd have a say for sure, he prolly said LO for sure, that's why Ariza is walking.

Honestly, we'll never know right , it's strictly guessing game.

Thoughts?

Ultimate decision wise it's mitch and the buss's but the players and coaches has some influences as well. For Phil, that player has to work in his system or else he'll be benched the whole time. Player chemistry is very important as well and who knows team chemistry more than the players themselves. If Kobe were to give a call to a potential signee... heck they would totally influence that players decision on signing with us or not.
