Not so Fast: Odom or Ariza

Post#1 » by acion » Fri Jul 3, 2009 1:57 am

So here's an interesting question, with Artest signed who would you rather have Odom or Ariza? Everyone has been assuming Artest is the replacement at SF for Ariza. Before jumping too quick on Odom, remember Artest can play point forward and guard 4's like Odom. His game is actually more like Odom's than Ariza. And, lets say it would cost $6M per year for Ariza and $9M per year for Odom... which one? Hmmmm.......

odom... no question... Artest would be pissed if Lakers choose Ariza over Odom.

Artest: Don't you know who you are messing with?
Laker's Management: oh yea... okay we will resign odom.
Sasha Vujacic = The Phail Machine = The Ring Blocker

Trade Sasha before he ruins the Lakers next season.

Lose Odom and you lose the versatility and depth advantages in the front court. The Lakers have something uncommon when they are almost even more dangerous when the starting center (Bynum) gets into foul trouble... which is often, btw.

Odom is the unanimous choice. He gives opponents headaches in terms of matching up.

Player A is the better player and has been a good player for many years. Player B was a scrub and really only played great in his contract year. I don't think this should even be a question

SF:Artest/Walton/Morrison
PF:Gasol/Odom???/Powell
C:Bynum/Mbenga
SG:Bryant/Vujacic
PG:Fisher/Farmar/Brown???

Artest = SF and some SG
Odom = PF and some SF

that's super versatile... Ariza could never play SG or PF. If he could, Sasha and Powell would've never seen the floor.
