i dont get it either, ended up working out for us i guess, but i know he wanted to stay. Its his damn agents fault. Getting artest is great, but its sort of bittersweet, its sad to see ariza go....really loved that kid

Held out think he could sucker LA into offering him more money. His options went downhill after you signed Ron and yet he still gets over paid.

Lee is an utter moron and I'm disappointed in Ariza's decision.

You go to a worst team for the same price the Lakers would have given? And all because your "brilliant" agent burned bridges and tried to convince you that you deserve an unrealistic price tag.

Still, I will definitely wish Ariza good luck. Those clutch steals and 3s were awesome to watch. Nonetheless, the disappointment feeling lingers.

This is a great pickup by the Lakers. Ariza is going to get exposed with the Rockets. Plus Rockets are a sinking ship. Rockets fans will be booing his a* outta of town before you know it.

was just on sportscenter

Says he has reached a verbal agreement, is playing to win, not for the money.

I'd like to hear from him and not his agent as to how he ended up with the Rockets. The other alternatives he had were closer to winning a championship and offered around the same range of money. He might not have a #1, 2, or 3 role with those teams but he only has that opportunity in Houston for maybe one season before Darryl Morey puts and end to that.

Most all Laker Fans hate to see Ariza go. But let's face it, he basically played 1/2 season of decent ball with the Lakers. Before that he was dumped by the Knicks and the Magic, neither seeing anything good about his play.

While with the Lakers and the triangle offense, he showed great upside and was a very good defender. He had some dazzling plays every once in a while. He swapped back and forth as a starter with Luke Walton, but his best moments (of the regular season) were when he came off the bench.

With the Rockets he will be competing with Battier for SF minutes. I think Battier is a better player than him though (unless Trevor continues to develop).

With all the double and triple teams that Kobe and Pau saw, that left Ariza alone on the 3pt line quite often, but again, he shot a lower 3pt% than Artest. So while we may miss him, is basically a bench guy, a roll player, not worth $30+million in my mind or in the Lakers' minds.

The Lakers flirted with getting Artest several times in recent years, from both the Pacers and the Kings. And I see this "swap" as a huge advantage for the Lakers.

Ariza's Agent is a POS, the Lakers offered Ariza the MLE (nearly a $2.5mil more than he made the previous year) and his agent rejected it, ran to the media and cried about being insulted.

So Artest comes along and is happy with the MLE and the Lakers jump at it and tell Ariza's Agent to go pound sand!

Next, since no decent team has more than the MLE to offer, they JUMP at the Rockets MLE offer and still say the Lakers disrespected them (LOL, trying to save face no doubt).

So, instead of playing for a Championship caliber Team, in the town he grew up in, played HS ball, and played college ball (UCLA) he now gets to move again (4 Teams in 5 seasons). And instead of being on a Team that could have offered him a chance at several more Rings, he goes to one that "might" be in a rebuilding mode, all for the SAME amount of money that he was "insulted by" from the Lakers....
