Well if and when and you should resign Odom even if it's at 10 mll just make it for 3 seaons or 40 for 5 then you are officially imo the best gm ever. The student has surpassed the teacher. You will have put together the best team in sports history including 4 star quility players all in there prime which one is the greatest plus an up and comer in Bynum. Doesn't get any better.

Much needed thread. Let's take a moment to reflect on the irony of all this:

2005-2007
-some of us were calling for Mitch to trade Odom for Artest, thinking Artest would be a better fit.

-in desperation a few of us were conceding we should package Odom AND/OR Bynum for a PF like Jermaine O'neal.

By having patience Mitch was not only able to get us a top 3 PF and now potentially Ron Artest, but he's done it without giving up Odom or Bynum. Could any of us have ever dreamed of a team loaded with Kobe, Artest, Odom, Gasol, and Bynum?

Incredible story of patience by Mitchell. Artest and Odom for a combined $14 million a year for 3 years? Unreal.

The man deserves the ultimate props for making a huge Ariza fan not care about Ariza at all.

A lot of luck, and I still think his drafting has been weak...

But even his worst critic has to give him credit for the current roster. This guy waited, waited, waited, waited for all these miracle deals to come up...and he almost lost Kobe with several years of chucky atkins, smush, kwame, cook...

But this right here. Man.

I don't know how much responsibility to give him, but under his watch, this team is looking like a dynasty.

I agree with miles as far as the draft process, we still lack a true 1.Only the last few drafts has sucked.

But as far as Mitch the man has been cunning, deliberate, diligent and smart. For those of you who don't know, Mitch when he first joined the Lakers in 1981 at age 26, Dr.Buss saw something in him at the time and signed into his contract for him to work for him after his playing days. This has been 29 years in the making, but he learn from the best in J.West. Yeah he struggled early but he has a handle on this thing now.

Jerry West lite!

But seriously the NBA is anout being at the right place at the right time and Mitch has been there more often than others with Gasol and then Ariza & with Fisher. He did what was needed to be done and stuck his ground against Kobe's demands, LO's inconsistencies and Bynum's health. Turning a team with Smush/Luke/Kwame as starters into a team putting out Pau/Drew/LO/Artest & Kobe in a matter of 3 seasons is no easy thing and he has to be credited for that.

One chip in the kitty already and a dynasty to follow. Well done Mitch!

PS: Upgrade the PG and for one last time, Do it Mitch!

We didn't have a 1 last year. He picked Farmar & Crittenton back to back, both are still in the league. Not sure what you guys expect as low as we are picking year to year. I made those same picks back to back drafts myself as I watched the draft it was bizaree I said Mitch take Crit and he did, Mitch take Farmar and he did. I can't complain at all.
