I know that Luke is a bad case of crabs on some peoples genitals and would like get rid of him asap, but I think of Luke more as a venerial wart that will take a little more than a shaving an a can of raid to get rid of. I think that Phil likes what Luke brings to the Lakers when he is not injured and his contract is to awful to move so I think he is not going anywhere for a while.

he will be the starter, the enforcer and hopefully Phil molds him into a great triangle player.

in theory, Ammo is the missing piece at the small forward position.

in theory, he is the sharpshooter that replaced Radman.

in theory, Ammo will be healthy next season and comeback to reassert himself into the consciousness of NBA fans and critics as the player he was in college.

in theory Ammo will benefit offensively from playing with Kobe and defensevely from Artest.

fact, Ammo is an expiring contract that can help yeild a decent player via trade to inherit the starting point guard job from Fish when he goes to the bench. (ammos contract is extra appealing to those trying to make cap room for 2010)

fact, Kobe and Lamar can play SF in case of injury to Artest or Luke.

fact, an Ammo buy out could also yeald money to bring in somebody who is proven and not a "let's hope and see how he does" player.

fact, letting Ammos contract expire next season gives us a chance to either retain him if he breaks out or let him walk and sign somebody else in the infamous 2010 FA market.


this is not a trade Ammo for ______ thread. this is a thread about what you think we should do at the SF position. I wrote down some things that I think should be considered.

personally, as much as I think we should give Ammo a chance and stay put, I think that a trade or a buy out would be in order.

Luke is a productive back up when healthy and since his contract cannot be moved, he'd be one player I look to keep. I think the shooter's role is up for grabs between Sasha and Ammo and I'd like to monitor Ammo during the summer league to see what part of his game he's still retained.

Odom is a full time PF at this stage in his career and I don't see anyway that's going to change.

Luke is a keeper in my opinion. He can't be traded for someone better than him.

He does a lot of things in the playoffs that I like and he always seem to make a huge play in a big game.

i liked morrison in college, had a great game and an excellent shooter. problem is, i havent seen him play a professional game nor any other game since college. im still expecting this sharpshooting dude. but theres a reason why a high draft picked has been sent packing and shipped here.

Well the question is do we start Bynum or Odom? If we start Bynum then the sf spot is covered with Odom backing it up. Sasha can play there as can Kobe in a 3 guard lineup and of course Ron Artest starts.
If we can unload Luke we should. The Lakers should have the highest salary in the league with the amount they charge for tickets and how good the team is and how rich they are but I don't mind unloading a few guys now that Artest is here as long as we keep Odom. I would try and package Walton, Ammo, Farmar together for an expiring contract and maybe a sf throw in that can give 12 minutes a game.
Really with our starters our bench can be full of dleaguers.


Fact-Ammo was not brought in to be a sharp shooter 3 pointer. He is not a sharpshooter 3 pointer specialist he was a scorer in college. It is a assumption some people make but it's false.
Fact-He was not brought here to play. They were just unloading Radman.

Just thinking, how would you feel if Memphis offered pure cap space (we still have around 10$ million left) in exchange of Farmar and Morrison ?

They both just seem to be filling roster spots on your team and the deal would instantly free up 7 million from your payroll making it easier to resign Odom and Shannon Brown.

Memphis is looking for a backup pg and Farmar could do the job just fine while we could also take the gamble on Morrison giving him some minutes in the 2/3 rotation.

I agree Luke's not going anywhere, nobody wants his 3 year contract and Phil wouldn't let him go.

Mitch has to find a way to move Adam Morrison for a PG as great as the cash for Tong Douglas was he could've been a prospect to replace Fish. Unfortunately Ammo didnt get ANY playing time for us so nobody around the league knows what they can get from him.

So think that the Grizzlies offers Jordan Farmar + Adam Morrison for 7million TPE

Well I don't know because Kidd have been getting offers for 3 year deals and are we willing to give him that contract. Also the only way we get Kidd is through sign & trade.

I only find two options - Banks (no thanks) and Barbosa maybe Sarver is hard up to get under that tax line

I really want Luke to start because i think he will defer to Kobe and Pau better than Artest will. I would love to see the look on the opponent second unit faces when Artest and Lamar(if resigned) checks in at the start of the second quarter. Those two would have a field day against everybody second unit can't wait for the season to start. I just hope it doesnt end up like malone and payton.
