As the TRUTH comes out on Ariza

Post#1 » by Tommy Trojan » Fri Jul 3, 2009 7:50 pm

We all know what a snake Ariza's agent is, and for Ariza to screw the Lakers back like this. Mitch tried to bring Ariza back, but Ariza along with his agent backstabed the Lakers and wanted some ridiculous amount of cash. Hoopsworld reported today

"A source tells HOOPSWORLD that Kupchak was prepared to give Ariza an offer equivalent to the full MLE but at 10.5% raises, totaling at approximately $33.8 million over five years. "

"LA's ceiling might have been a $6 million starting salary for $36 million over five but before negotiations progressed after 9:00pm Pacific on Tuesday night, the source says that Ariza's agent, David Lee, took a confrontational approach with Kupchak."

"Lee wanted a deal in the $50 million range and took offense to the team's stance that Trevor should test the market first for that level of compensation."

So he did what Ronny did and bailed for bigger pay. Let this be a lesson for the rest of you, never chase money and never f*ck with Mitch!

Oh well, we should actually start a appreciation thread for Ariz for his help both last years title run and give a golden opportunity to get a better player than him............. ARTEST.
On one hand you cant blame him but on the other he couldve been more professional about it and settled for a good deal and hopefully a couple more titles. But I bet you Ariza isnt even going to perform and play as good as he did in LA.

Hopefully next year he can be watching the parade from Houston wonderin why he hired a DIRT BAG FOR AN AGENT. Thanks Trevor. Now get out of my city your so called HOME.

Tony, ultimately it was his decision. He chased after the money. That fool will regret his decision for the rest of his life. And for him and his agent to come in and blame Mitch and the Lakers org is really f*cked up bra

Wow! D Lee negotiates publicly, and the LAL negotiate privately. This really should be an eye opener for future players signing up with D Lee's team.

What ever happened to Lee Steignberg?

this isnt similar to ronnys situation, ronny was making in the hundred thousand range, and knew staying with the lakers would mean less playing time and a role with odom, pau, bynum here. Trevor was just greedy, lakers were open to 6 mil a year to a guy that is nothing without kobe and pau, getting him open shots, if anyone was disrespected it was the Lakers, the lakers made trevor not the other way around.

SKIP HIM.
He thought just because good old Jimmy boy had a hard on Bynum and didnt want to lose Bynum and he gave him that much money, he though he could pull the same ish for Ariza not realizing that there is this crazy hard headed warrior with balls knocking on the Lakers door willing to play for less money to win a title and be on the best team.
I bet you Arizas kicking himself in the ass right now wishing he have this dirtbag as his agent.
Ariz couldve made much much more money if he played a couple more years with what we were going to pay him and added a few more titles to his resume and then went after a bigger contract, but he didnt and look where he ended up.

See this is why Ron Artest if he does sign with us will be my favorite player along with Kobe. Kobe upset me a little by not opting for less and it is so refreshing to hear a player say I don't care about the money and back it up by taking less. That's heart. Ron Artest the role model? If Kobe Bryant can make over his image Ron Artest is gonna become a superstar here. Who knows Phil might get him zenned out to in a good way.

i don't blame the agents because they get a % and they have to do what there client tells them to. If all the players did what there agents said nobody would sign for less to win because agents only care about money not winning.

I always wanted Artest and always thought Ariza was overrated. Ariza is a poor mans Wilson Chandler.

I agree, Trevor said the Lakers gave me the opportunity to play when no other team had any interest in me. He said this right after the playoffs. Then all of a sudden the start talking publicly and that if the Lakers want me they should show me the money or some crap like that. And this happened on few occasions.

And for them to put the Lakers on the spot and blame the Lakers not signing him is really ffffed up. Say what you want.

We will really miss Trevor. This is very sad for me. He was only going to get better.
He is an outstandung defender. Great triangle guy. Has improved his outside shot. Great in the locker room. A perfect fit for the Lakers for years to come. So young but so mature beyond his age.

I think Artest is very good but Trevor was a perfect fit and will be sorely missed. I worry about the team chemistry with Artest. I worry about his ability to understand and play in the triangle. I worry about him agreeing to be the 3rd or 4th option on this team.

Remember how much the C's missed Posey when he defected.

The Lakers and us fans will miss Trevor.

actually the Cs finished with a 62-20 record with their best player out for the last quarter of the season. it was kg's injury that hurt them, not missing posey.

also a different situation because the lakers actually replaced ariza with a more talented player. i do share your concerns about chemistry and artest's ability to fit into the system but if it works out ok this team will be better than last season's championship team.

The C's desperately missed Posey's defense and outside shot and lack of selfishness.
And if your point is that the C's did not miss Posey tht much, I would say that the Lakers will miss Trevor a lot more than the C's missed Posey.
I agree that Artest is a great player but his ability to fit into our system is a big unknown whereas with Trevor, not only was he a perfect fit, but he wasa only going to get better.

Hopefully Bynum fires this guy before his new contract expires. I really thought winning would have softened the negotiations this time around.

Why on earth would you trust Hoopsworld? For all we know that 'source' could be a random poster in realgm. They're that unreliable.
