As a life-long Laker and basketball fan I've always thought the PG position was the most important especially growing up watching Magic. I know Kobe is the man, but D-fish is also a Captain and has the respect of the entire team. I think the Lakers need a better successor, but who can come in and have the character and maturity to lead the offense with Artest,Kobe,Pau, etc. Even if it's in a reserve role, can the Lakers let Fish walk after next year? Any ideas who would be a good fit around the league?

why would we want to let him walk?

as long as fish wants to play, lakers will accomodate him

Assuming we resign Odom with Kobe/Artest/Odom pg will be our least important position in the triangle offense. Kobe always brings up the ball and makes plays and Artest is somebody who can do that to and clearly so is Odom and with another 20 point a game guy they all will more. They don't need a pg. You can start as pg and win. Fisher can play til he is 90 if he wants. With Kobe and Artest locking down the peremiter and Odom/Gasol/Bynum being the bigs even when the pg's blow by ours they aint going nowhere.

I was hoping LA would pull off a trade to bring in Jonny Flynn before the draft, and that Fisher could tutor him. I figured it wasn't realistic, but it would be ideal to get a young, solid (If a superstar PG isn't available) point guard who can take a year or two to develop behind Fish.

a good guy to lead us could be Kidd

If it wasn't for agents reminding guys who they are, I think Kidd might have come over this year for the minimum. Always next time I guess
